Hello everyone,
There's been that friend of mine which we were pretty close with but not too much...especially recently..
we had our lives going and nothing much... I asked what attitude is best for me to adopt towards this friend? (For me keeping contact fresh is not an option, because it feels like the door is closed...so that's why I asked:)
Answer of Yi was: 45.2.5 to 40
And I have no idea on how to interpret it. Dilemma was either to let go this connection altogether or still keep some hope (maybe it's temporary issues).
Please help! :/

Hi inner truth ( I think you already know the answer, 'inner knowledge', that the door is closed).

h45 speaks about the king approaching the temple, to sacrifice something.
The great sacrifice here is separateness, the ownership of a part of reality as "me", or on a smaller scale the ownership of reality by a facet of me, some desire syndrome in me. Good fortune comes from movement from our present position, which is sacrificing what we are. (Richmond)

45.2 The Chinese image .
Allowing oneself to be gathered in is an advantage. No error.
A sacrifice furthers it.
(Richmond)

If someone is right for you, he will come to you. If the relationship with this friend is not working - sacrifice it, no need to worry about it. Don't choose with whom to be, just wait.

45.5 If someone is not who you want them to be, don't try to change them. Just keep to yourself.

The lines lead us to h40 (Deliverance, Liberation).
Free yourself, untie these bonds and you will be ok.

Transitional hexagrams are:
45.2 → 47.5(Exhaustion, Restriction) → 40.

47.5 The Chinese image
His nose and feet are cut off.
Opposition to the man with the scarlet sash. Joy come slowly.
Sacrifice is needed.

The nose leads the direction we face and the feet lead the direction we take; both are frustrated, cut off. We are in opposition to a greater truth, our truth is too small and when we cease our attachment to it joy, flow, will return.

Here we come to experience our exhaustion of feeling; if we can witness this without trying to act upon it we may see that it is our chosen tao that is exhausted, not our being which belongs to the great tao and is never exhausted.

Again the sacrifice, the relationship has exhausted itself, it's time to release it.

Thank you, astheroid. Very much.
It makes literal sense. Sacrifice and release myself
