I don't know how I did this - maybe lifting heavy boxes or maybe too much computing - but I've done something to my right shoulder and chest muscles. It's been a month and while it doesn't hurt as much as it did at first I'm really sore and unable to do a lot of stuff like lifting and reaching and rolling over. Anyway, I asked the I Ching what was the potential for healing - how close to normal - would I get if I do nothing special as in not going to a doctor or physical therapist, and just let nature take its course? It's a weird way to phrase a question but I was trying to avoid a yes or no question like, "Should I see a doctor?"
I received 34.2.4 changing to 36.
I'm thinking 36 could refer to the surrounding circumstances as in keeping hidden, not going to a professional and 34 as being stable, and the lines 2 and 4 also look like I'll heal eventually. But I'd like a second opinion!
I'm concerned that maybe I've torn something that wont heal without some special intervention.
Thanks!

Hi Rosada
I worked out at the gym when i hadnt for a long time over did it and the next day i couldnt move at all, I looked it up on the net and read that i had actually torn muscles but not like pulled a hamstring or something.
It was said they were tiny tear's and took about two weeks to heal, it kind of got itchy as things do when they heal, maybe look at out for that,
The lines say to me similar to how you read them, I think its clear "according to the lines" that you are on the mend line, I mean line 2 is dont over do it and line 4 is you are on the mend, 36 maybe simply a kind gloomy overlook like when you are trying to sleep and you cant even roll over,
I actully burst out laughing when it happen to me with the gym , after a few days I just said this is ridiculous i can barley move but i knew i was healing. So you probably did tear a muscle but maybe like i said you havent snapped the whole thing. You would know it then I guess.

In conclusion my dear i am reading what you are reading with the lines,
saying that as soon as hurt yourself it starts healing in its own way.
Think about people in sport they pull a muscle and there out for the whole season. I think the YI is saying dont lift boxes and stuff until you can.
As long it is feeling better slowly then it appears ok, just a shame you cant remember doing it.
The question i think is does it actually feel better, if there was no improvement and you didnt know how u did it then, the yes see a doctor,
According to the reading it looks good from my perspective

If it was just your shoulder I'd wonder if you had a frozen shoulder or perhaps tendonitis, these are fairly classic symptoms you describe. An injury can trigger these sometimes or sometimes they just happen by themselves and are particularly common in older women. If you cannot lift your arm above a certain level it might be an indication of those conditions which do take a long time to resolve. It's worth finding out if it is one of these because then you can treat it appropriately. However you say it is also your chest muscles ?

34.2.4>36 does look like an excellent indication of healing through strength (34) of a wound (36) and the fact that the pain is lessening is also a good sign. I have had 34 for getting better a number of times but also for medical advice/intervention which worked/helped.

My view regardless of the cast is that if there isn't significant improvement soon it would be best to get a diagnosis from a Dr. I say this particularly since you mention your chest and pain in the chest can arise from all sorts of things which are better to be checked out.

Having said that in answer to your question this looks a very good answer indeed so maybe you won't need to see a Dr. Here's hoping it continues to improve each day.

Thanks Friends!
This is very comforting. Particularly thank you, Steve, for the personal story. It's nice to know what the I Ching is saying but even better to also have someone who's successfully crossed this river (hmm, an example of the image in 29?).
Likewise Trojina, I so appreciate your I Ching interpretation PLUS your personal encouragement to see a Dr. if things don't continue to improve. This is sort of thing I think you were suggesting it would be nice if we could have a special thread for in Open Space. Maybe we don't need a whole special thread - maybe just encourage or at least not discourage the adding of a personal insights after a reading. I know sometimes I get jumped on for giving an interpretation that people think represents my own opinion (like I might get trounced as being irresponsible if I say, "I think the IC is saying quit your job" when really I think that's sort of irresponsible too, but it was what the I thought the IC was saying) and I like the idea of being able to add a disclaimer!
Of course I guess freely giving one's own advice could get tricky if someone didn't ask for it. Like "Yes the IC says the cats love you but 27 is just too many!!!" Anyway, I'm delighted to have your thoughtful analysis plus your own good sense!

Yes for sure as the lines do give encouragement but you think to yourself as this is a perfect example, am i giving advice as not to see a doctor,?? I could also see Trojina had the same issue with the reply as the lines look great. You are very experienced with the IChing and know its a guide and other factors are involved when you get a reading come back. However a less experienced person may take it as gospel here, especially with medical questions we need to be careful. My experience also when casting your frame of mind is a big part as well, i have readings come back that possibly may have been influenced by this factor .

Saying all that my reading usually are pretty accurate I guess thats why I am still here and first got interested nearly 30 years ago.

I think in some cases your right we need to give our personal opinions along with examining the cast

Rosada, I know it has been several years, but would be nice to know that you did resolve this without a doctor’s intervention? (Or not ?)
thanks 🙏! 🌹

I did end up going to a chiropractor but as I was living in a cabin in the mountains at the time the drive home on the bumpy dirt roads seemed to immediately undo all the adjustments so after a month or so of that I just resigned myself to waiting for the body to heal. It took about two years to be completely healed and pain free. I'm fine now. With hindsight I interpret these lines to be saying 34. Stay put. 36. Stay quiet. So advice not to bother with doctors.
