I can use some help, 39 to 43

I have some problems with a friend (female). I asked the I Ching twice about the situation and in both cases 18 (degeneration) was the resulting hexagram.
Because the situation gets unpleasant for me I want to solve problems as soon as possible.

I asked the I Ching: How can I correct the degeneration as soon as possible and enough to enable me to move further without feeling unhappy about the situation.
The answer I got was hexagram 39 (halting / trouble) to 43 (parting).

It tells me that it will not be easy, but that there is no way back and I have to think things over. I need to be patience and I have to accept that I am not in control about developments. I need to prepare for next steps and ask others for advise.
Being resolute (43) will end the problems in the end. I think it's best being passive for the time being.

If I look at the lines, line one recommends to be passive. A good solution might be on it's way, line two says that there will be lot of problems (the message is not clear to me), line four recommends also to be passive but tells me I ll get help if I wait.

The lines are confusing to me. Which one is more important than the other? Line two talks about more problems. Is this going to be a never ending story (I asked as soons as possible, but how long is that)?

Maybe you can give me some advise and also give me your insights about 39 to 43.

Hex 18 is about fixing what been spoilt as quickly as possible, repairing the damage. You have let the situation decay, perhaps through an unwise choice, but it can be sorted out by taking action.

Hex 39.1 you are up against an obstacle so think very carefully how you are going to deal with it. Do not take any action for the moment, wait and watch.

Hex 39.2 you must deal with the problem, made by another, head on, there is no way around it.

Hex 39.4 use help, stay still and let others come to your aid, to sort this problem out together.

Hex 43 you will achieve a solution, so take decisive action, do not hestitate any longer, to rid yourself of the problem. Be steadfast, don't weaken.

Do you have an idea if all three lines will happen? In that case it will take a long time.
It's also hard to decide how long to wait.
But I will find out I guess.

I'd say you're getting useful results from the Yi, but you're not using it. Here's why I think that: you got 18 when you asked about the problems with your friend. Hex 18 talks about seeing disorder in the situation, feeling disgusted by it, and being inspired to rejuvenate the situation. When you got that result from the Yi, you should have asked yourself: what's wrong with the relationship? Where have things gone wrong? What issues are festering? What needs to have the light of attention and conversation with my friend? These are the sort of questions you should have asked yourself and which should have produced answers on your own. You know, the Yi can show you where you need to look, but it can't actually *find* what you need to see in yourself and your life - *you* have to do that work yourself.

What the Yi's saying is this, I think: "Correcting the degeneration you speak of will be difficult and hampered, like somebody limping as they move forward; although difficult, you will see what you don't want in the relationship and distance yourself from it."

But basically, the Yi has given you the same answer: you have to leave something behind which is presently in the relationship. I doubt that you have to leave the other person behind. But from the results you've had with the Yi, I'd say there's a problematic element in the relationship which needs to be identified and let go of. Okay, here's my question for you: what is it that's queering the relationship? Only you can answer that question. When you answer it, you'll be in a position to do something about it.

Well, I would imagine that you have waited and watched as suggested by hex 39.1. you have either prepared yourself or are preparing yourself to do something about the problem as suggested by hex 39.2, and you are perhaps now waiting for help/advice from others(perhaps this help/advice comes from us on this forum) as how to proceed, hex 39.4. Hex 39 indicates the time about now, middle of November. So once you get the ball rolling, then hex 43 will kick in and then full scale action is to be taken. All this seems to be happening now.

Thanks both for your comments. They are really helpfull.
It's about old, unspoken business with a mutual friend.
We shouldn't have been in this situation, but I know what to do now.

I already told that I got twice hex 18 before I got 39-43. One of the questions I asked then was "why do I feel unhappy about the current situation". At that time I got hex 26 changing in hex 18 (line 1 moving).
A week later I still have unpleasant feelings about the situation and I asked again why I feel unhappy (situation is different now, so the answer might be different too). Once again I got hex 26 (nurturance of the great) now with lines 1,2,3 and 6 moving, resulting in hex 2 earth. Hex26 tells me to accept and respect the past, to look at what I can do and what is possible.

What's your opinion about twice 26? The first resulting hexagram, 18, was very clear to me. With the second one, earrth, I have more difficulties.
I can need some help again .

Hex 26.1 you want to make a move but some obstacle is holding you back, so wait.

Hex 26.2 Still wait.

Hex 26.3 the obstacle has now been removed, time to starting making a move but be aware that danger still lurks, so prepare yourself mentally and physically.

Hex 26.6 Now everything is clear, the obstacle is gone, success is yours.

Hex 2 say to follow , don't push the matter by yourself, be the passive person here, success.

Your position is not great at the moment, but don't worry this story will slowly sort it self out, perhaps soon perhaps in a few weeks.
