I Lost Everything...Am I Gaining Anything?

Hello All,

It has been some time since I've posted or read anything on this forum. Over the past few months I've lost my job/relationship with my best friend, lost my relationship with my fiancee, and I'm involved in civil court for crimes I didn't commit (no really).

My life is completely unmanageable and I've lost everything. I'm having a difficult time right now with how I relate to life and other people. I'm very hurt and feel lost.

I asked the Yi the following question as to "Why" this is going on?

"Show me why I lost everything"

Hex# 1, 9@4th - changing into Hex# 9

Does 9@4th mean advancing in my life is a mistake?????


Regarding my professional life I ask....

"Please show me an image of what my professional life will be like for the rest of 2008"

I got the EXACT same answer.......

This is rather strange. Can anyone assist me in what and why these things have happened in my life????

Perhaps Gia-Fu Feng's Taoist translation of the Yi hex 1 line 4 is helpful:

JUMPING DRAGON SUDDENLY RESTS IN THE ABYSS. It is time for decision.

That would suggest NOT that anything you ever did was wrong---however it is a time to make some major decisions about your life going forward.

Getting the same oracle twice, particularly this same oracle would strongly emphasize the issue is not what happened or how you continue your prior life but take a bit of time and think about what it is that you truly wish to do with the rest of your life.

The Wilhelm commentary on this fourth line is quite positive, but it also notes that it is a time for DECISION about what your life is all about.

If your prior life path and events involved doing what seemed the logical next step until you got to your difficult places, perhaps you would benefit from lifting your sights higher and more broadly and think about what YOU want for your life.

An oracle is an oracle with many implications and limitations. About the best this community has to offer is the personal guidance and counsel from Hilary, I believe available through email or the readings tab.

In more general and conversational terms (since you seem to be in a bit of a sticky wicket at this point) these are tough times. I was on my way home along a route I have often driven last week when I found myself lost and confused and then crashed into a low curb-like thing covered in rocks on the wild outskirts of town. Two hours later I was near home but unable to find my driveway. I did manage to get home with some help from my wife, but when I got my car to the repair shop, the repairman inspecting the damage kept expressing his amazement I survived the collision uninjured.

So, I may be a disembodied spirit at the moment just not aware of my condition....which makes me loathe to give you too much definitive advice.

It does sound though that you can use all the help you can manage and as you are using the Yi Oracle I would recommend Hilary's personal counsel as worthwhile in your circumstances.

It says you were/are undergoing a time of change and that some choices were placed in front of you, you could have chosen to lie low or you could chose to be busy and involved which it appears that you were. It is like I said a few months back, your stars are giving you a hard time. So you can put this period down to a change in fortunes because you chose to be very active in your affairs.

You will still be undergoing a state of change for a while longer and again the choice to be active or remain quiet comes up again but everything seems to be in a restless state for you, so the promise of any success is not coming yet. Difficult time.

Creative Force, set in a context of Small Taming. That sounds as though you never had any shortage of ideas, energy and drive, but found it hard to keep on top of things; especially, there's a sense about hexagram 9 of being kept busy by details. Like the small farmer who's so busy doing good work in the fields every day, she never has time to construct a reservoir, leaving her still reliant on the gathering clouds.

Lashings of creative drive and potential, with the means of using and working with it on the borderline between 'just enough' and 'not quite there'.

'Maybe someone dances in the abyss.
No mistake.'

This can be a dance along that borderline. Also... dancing with possibilities, being on the verge of something bigger that just might be beyond you, or beyond the realms of possibility in general. It can be a 'dreaming' line: not every image that leaps above the water-line is necessarily going to take flight. So I would guess the losses came because you were dancing with ideas that were beyond what could be sustained.

Then maybe the most important part of the reading:

'No mistake'

Or Wilhelm's translation:

'No blame.'

It's something Yi tends to say when you're quite sure there must be mistakes and blame. But there's no such thing here - maybe because dragon-sized creative ideas have to go through this 'dancing' phase while things move on, and the fields are cultivated. Hexagram 9 suggests a long period of cultivation and detail-work before people are prepared for their calling.

And then your next reading suggests the same process continues - still 'no mistake'. Hm. In your shoes, I think I'd be inclined to ask Yi for some advice, maybe with a question starting 'How can I...?'

(Frank, thank you for the generous recommendation and for pointing me towards this thread. You seem to be doing pretty well for a disembodied spirit. Personally I find a life spent sitting at a computer gets me ever more 'embodied' .)

I believe Frank's interpretation is right on track. 1.4 says there is something that is now in your power, it's right for you to do, it's true to your nature, and there's no blame. 9 says that what's in your power is to take care of the most immediate, smallest aspects of the outward situation. 9 also says your highest leverage of the situation is to make sure your inner life honors your conscience.

Did you do something to drive away the people you care about? Did you do something to attract the lawsuit? If not, "no blame." What is the way to fill your heart with courage and other positive values? What is the next step that is small enough you can be sure to succeed at it?

Frank, maybe your sense of direction got 100% concentrated on the keyboard that day, none left for time behind the wheel? At least in Vegas, going off the road doesn't mean trampling some gorgeous lush protected landscape. Seriously, will you do a reading about what was going on there in your life?

I would suggest you to take one step back (maybe 2 or more, actually).

Try this dialogue, in this order

1.- Global diagnosis of my Time (this is to figure out the status of your entire life)
2.- General diagosis of my emotional time
3.- General diagnosis of my labour time
4.- General diagnosis of my spiritual time
5.- How can I harmonize my life nowadays?

I hope, if this time you follow Yi's advices, you can gain clarity to decide the direction of your life (1.4)

Hi Mirror Saw and everyone,

I am now assured, I suffered no injury and it was just my car being taken to the level that even an insurance adjuster can understand and appreciate. Now, I have a brand new car with the highest of Consumer Reports rating, many air bags and satellite radio which all of which delights me and makes my prior situation seem long ago and far away.

So, there is life after everything is lost---especially if you see your current situation as an open field, cleared of former entanglements where you can make your own free choices of what you want next.

At the very least your double oracle of hex 1,4>>9 entitles you to a bit of respite and quiet, reflective time. For us civilians, all the things you mentioned are major upsets, but there are professionals who deal with these situations all the time and for them these things are as normal and commonplace as any other work situation. Rest, unclutch, relax, come to your own decisions and deal with reasonable and competent professionals to make your next hunk of living go better than this last one.

Thoughts about the first hexagram, The Creative...The image advises, "The superior man makes himself strong and untiring." I think this assures us that life goes on forever, this too shall pass, and not to give up or shut down...the lines tell us how to go about creating our life... Line four is the position of the counsellor or guide, but in Hexagram 1 there is no predecessor. Everything is happening for the very first time, so there is no one to advise us what we should or should not do. It is all up to us and no choice is wrong.
Thoughts about hexagram 9, The Taming Power of The Small...The image advises, "The superior man refines the outward aspect of his nature." I think this reminds us that we are all basically alike. What has happened to one of us could happen to any of us. We don't have the power or the understanding to change much beyond our personal sphere, but we aren't required to. Just comb hair, brush teeth and play the game as best we can.

Receiving these hexagrams in response to your questions reads to me like the Universe is telling you that what happened to you in the past is not nearly so important as what you are going to do in the future. The past brought you to this point where you have nothing and no one to guide you except yourself. I.4 is the Free Will line! Now you can ..
Hex.1: Use all your visualization skills and techniques to harmonize with the feeling tone you want to be on and..
Hex.9: Take small steps, one day at a time.
