Hi!

So originally I asked "What is the future between me and him" And him being a guy from the past that I have not heard from in a long while..

I got Hexagram 57.5 to Hexagram 18....

A lot of thoughts about 18 was that what went wrong will be righted again, what was spoiled will be worked out so things would reunite, etc.

I'm not so sure.....

So today I asked "Is he going to contact me?"

I got Hex 30.1.2.4 to Hexagram 18 again!!!

I'm trying to clarify if 18 might mean that I don't get what I want and I have to deal with that....

It seems as I read through various threads, that 18 is interpreted as what was bad can be revived again...but I'm wondering if it could mean it doesn't ever change and you must get over it, leave it.

Any thoughts?

18 is rotted food that has been infested with worms. It is chaos, delusion, refuse, and flaws. Thus, you have to remove the decay and make and maintain order. In terms of any love, it says that you have already been intimate with the man; however, there is much distress and trouble and that the best course of action is simply to drop him. If you are thinking marriage, 18 says you are not destined for each other; you are will-suited to each other; thus, better to abandon this situation.

haven't been intimate with him ever though. last thread I posted with the 57.5 - 18 reading everyone was interpreting it as he would contact me and things would be worked out...

but I'm not so sure which interpretation is correct.

Hello holidaygirl

I'm not sure where you're getting it from when you say this part, as I don't see this written in the other threads......

last thread I posted with the 57.5 - 18 reading everyone was interpreting it as he would contact me and things would be worked out...

I think there are some important points here though.

You mentioned in one of your threads that you weren't sure how the Yi Jing works. One thing in all your threads so far is that you're using the Yi Jing in what is usually described as a 'fortune telling' kind of way, which means, as if the future is more or less fixed, that it can be known, and as if foretelling the future is what the Yi is for and is good at. Most people who use things like the Yi Jing don't really go along with that kind of thinking.

You obviously have some unmet needs about relationship - as do most of us! Nothing wrong with that. We can talk to the Yi JIng about that type of thing, and it can, to some extent, help us with the information it gives.

What it doesn't do is routinely predict the future on command. It's not a push-button system where you ask and the Yi Jing reveals what's to be. It reflects patterns and possibilities, and the onus is then on you to participate in your life as best you can. It's not healthy to use things like the Yi Jing to reinforce a passive view of yourself, or a 'will I get what I want' view of yourself. There's so much more to you than that! Surely you find yourself to be a person who is more interesting than just 'is he interested in me?' or 'will I get what I want?'?!

The text of the Yi is ancient and foreign, so understanding it takes hard work and then some. It's a never-ending study. It's not something where all you need to do is look it up online and hey presto everything falls into place. If only! The world would be packed with Yi Jing experts if that were so.

Hearing the Yi speaking to you (I mean hearing in a metaphorical sense, not literally hearing voices) is something that takes a lot of time and contemplation.

If you haven't heard from this person in ages, and you haven't contacted him either, then there's no current relationship going on between you. You don't need the Yi to tell you that.

The problem with the Yi is that if you ask it something it has to give a hexagram, even though it might prefer not to! That's one reason why using the Yi has to be deeply thoughtful and full of awareness. We have to really know what to ask, and when, and more importantly what not to ask and when not to ask.

You say this person comes up in your readings a lot, but I can't imagine you're meaning Yi Jing readings because the Yi isn't capable of bringing him up, which suggests you're doing some other kind of readings. As a general guide to all forms of divination, oracles, etc, 'less is more' is a good guide to follow.

If this person comes up a lot, it's most likely that it's because you're unresolved about your experience with him, and that's what the readings are encouraging you to do: to become resolved within yourself about him. Whether any future contact happens or not is largely up to you and him, not the Yi or anything else. Instead of wondering about his intentions, how about wondering about yours? If you want to speak to him, speak to him, but resolve as much as you can inside yourself first, and then if either of you make contact it stands a chance of being different from how it was between you last time, less likely to get caught in the old habits that made it unsatisfying for one or both of you.

I recommend you use the Yi to develop insight into how you can strengthen your sense of self, but I also recommend not using readings of any type to 'predict the future' - you lose yourself that way, and lose the opportunity to influence your future direction yourself. Own your choices and develop yourself, work on your happiness and self-esteem, your interests and hobbies and curiosities, and so on. For example, you could use the Yi (or a different oracle, if you're more familiar with another one) to find out what skill, talent, or interest you have dormant in you which has the potential to bring you into contact with new and engaging experiences, people, and emotions.

Generally, oracles and suchlike are best consulted sparingly and wisely, usually when a deep and genuine need arises from the ground of your being, and from a dedication to developing knowledge of yourself and the oracular system you select in full awareness of its limitations and usefulnesses.

In closing, I want to encourage you again to shine as the interesting person you can be, to become more fully who you are, to focus on making more of your own potential, and to see yourself as capable of all of that and more.

Regards

Nebu

Hi Nebu!

Thank you so, so much for your insightful reply. I really appreciate you taking the time to write me this lengthy and much needed post.

You're so spot on and what you say really rings true with my spirit. I found iching quite by accident and this was after being addicted to psychic readings. I really went off the deep end and found myself really worrying about what is to happen in my life and being wrapped up in anticipation. The situation with this guy is what sparked my addiction to psychics and after I got through that addiction, I found myself on tarot cards then, the iching.

I'm really glad to have read your reply as it has helped me to feel centered again. All this constant asking about what is to happen and if wrongs will be righted really made me into a manic mess. It's so egotistical to ask about all these surface-y things. And moreover, I had such a strong relationship with god and felt so guided, I was so intuitive about my life and I knew where I was going. I was so intuitive about even little things, like where I should look for a new apartment. I always feel such a deep peace in my gut every time I had to make a decision and I always found myself guided to where I should be. And instead of faith, fear replaced all that and I found myself so scared that I would be alone and so scared that I lost some guy and there will be no other. Whereas in the past I would feel confident when things went wrong somewhere that I was being guided to where I really should be instead.

To live spiritually is so much more than "will I get this job?" "Will I get this relationship?" "Will I get this money?" I'm very ashamed of myself for getting stuck and really all it's done is made me live in my head and not really be connected to my life.

I hope I can get back on track. I did join a free online support group before on psychicjunkie.net for people addicted to readings. It can be really hard to get out of that addiction and feel free to live without worrying. I think I need to get that help again.

But yes, you are right, I wasn't using it for the right purpose. And I think that iching cannot replace a whole spiritual journey and connection with god. I think that some things can enhance that, but the core needs to be me speaking to the source and living my life, being guided etc. And it does make sense that you shouldn't ask so much, which confirms again that it doesn't replace that spiritual connection/conversation that you have with god.

Thank so much for speaking the truth and taking time to do so. It's very kind of you to do so.
