After watching this video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9MckJcbs3w – and reading the comments, I had to ask myself is Mr. Irving actually being honest, or is he trying to mollify those who might do him or his family harm? The judgment for hexagram 47 (Exhaustion) states: "When one has something to say,
It is not believed." I interpret this to mean that his so-called "Revised Revisionism" will not be believed by those who have followed his work. Line 5 states: "It furthers one to make offerings and libations." This leads me to believe that indeed this speech is designed to preserve his own safety. I would be interested in hearing other people's take on this. whether one watches the video are not, or is familiar with his work could influence how I Ching's response is read.

Hi, I haven't watched the video as I have no interest in his work. So, my interpretation is based on how I see the reading itself. Hex 47.5 is about someone who feels oppressed/exhausted by circumstances that could be real, practical, objective but could as well be just how the person thinks and feels. I don't think that it has anything to do with safety and I don't think that the reading is telling you whether this person is being honest or not. It is saying that he feels isolated, with no support, and oppressed by figures of power and/or authority. He doesn't feel that he has being listened to, so this is how he feels and thinks, but whether his views and perceptions are correct, accurate or fair, that's another matter altogether.
