Hello everyone!

I could use a little help with the interpretation of my last cast. Briefly, the background is this: I'm currently unemployed (my choice) and searching for a new job. Also trying to make a career change (not a major one).

The main concern, also my question for the oracle, was: will I find a job to meet my current desires? The result was hex 28.3.5 changing to 40. As I see it, this speaks of releasing some tension (probably my waiting for good opportunities and the feeling that I don't have so much luck) and urgent action that needs to be taken. I'm not out of money, so I don't think the answer refers necessarily to that. It is more important to me to find a work that would fulfill me.

I also had a similar question: where will I find the job I'm looking for? Answer: hex 28 again, only this time the only changing line was 5. To me, this line is difficult to decipher. I got it repeteadly when asking about love, so I kind of to relate it to relationships. Any thoughts on this one?

Thank you very much,
amradea :bows:

Hmm, this is a hard one.

I think the whole "ridgepole breaking", which is emphasized in the third line, references the fact that, where you are now, being unemployed, is not a good place to be. Or/and it could be referencing stressful situations that you need to work on leaving immediately.

Now, this is really made strange by the fifth line... which indicates that a move toward a new job would only be an exertion of energy from a place of exhaustion, one that seems good, but which bears no real fruit. i.e. you'll be finding yourself in a job that's exhausting and mediocre.

Bad news, right? Maybe someone else will have different interpretation, hopefully.

But the situation is like... "You need to get a job, but you also need to get a job that's not just a dead-end, exhausting one."

Hexagram 5 showing up indicates a need to wait, but that's made tricky by "the ridgepole at the breaking point".

I would suggest a follow-up question to address how "stuck between a rock and a hard place", these answers are.

Thank you, Mryou1.

Interesting point of view. As you put it - and it perfectly makes sense to me - the answer Yi gave me reflects my current situation rather than a future outcome. I have this fear (the stressful situation hexagram 28 reflects, I suppose) that the next job will bring nothing new into my life. The thing is I left my old job with the thought of making some changes, take some time to put my life in order and think about future plans. Which I did, only now the problem is that what the market offers at this time, with the financial crisis and all, doesn't exactly fit with my plans. So, yes, bad news. But not necessarily that I won't find a job at all, only it might not be what I was hoping.

I took your advice and addressed the oracle another question, only not more specific (like, would I find THE JOB), but on the contrary, more general (will I find A JOB in the near future)? The answer is 39.5 changing to 15. I think the changing line speaks for itself: "In the midst of greatest obstructions, friends come".

Glad I helped. 39.5 definitely seems like a good omen in a not-so-good hexagram. Between the "see the great [person]" and "In the midst of greatest obstructions, friends come", there's a real theme of connection and friendship. Best of luck!
