I have been feeling bloated/ heavy in the stomach area recently which has led me to read a book on Chinese medicine - learning about hot/cold foods and sweet/ sour etc and the need for balance! I have a major sweet tooth (always have had) which is linked to a depleted spleen/stomach if you have too much. This can cause a spleen Qi deficiency which is also linked to over-thinking and depression!

So I am trying to reduce sweet intake (though not completely of course - always need balance! and chocolate...) and also take on board the advice to eat until 75% full (rather than full - full which I probably am quite guilty of - I like my food, but afterward often feel uncomfortable - which is also not good for a refreshing sleep!)

Anyway, for quite a while now my digestive system has been unstable and as I said have felt weird in the stomach these past few days (could also be dampness/ weather - when the sky is full of clouds I often feel tense and oppressed and just wish it to rain! and damp conditions are linked to inner dampness which disrupts Qi energy...)

I asked What should I do to improve my digestion?
11.2,3,5,6 > 42

Echoing Chinese medicine advice (of course stands to reason) I read this as saying to balance the food I intake and 42 as saying I must allow my stomach to be decreased before I can bring it increase again i.e. let myself get hungry before eating again! Eating is a cycle - you must give fullness and emptiness a chance! Yin and Yang needs a balanced expression in everything eh!

(Hulkskramer describes 42: 'indicates the filling of an empty dish... only that which is empty can be filled.'
I just need to give my stomach a break! and balance what goes in :)

This should perhaps be in Aha! moments, but think it's good to share here as more open to others' interpretations and if anyone's had a similar reading or experience on the subject...

For the past few nights I've also had trouble getting to sleep - though I rise quite early and am tired, maybe because I've been reading a lot recently my brain is over-wrought with abstract concepts before bed - and I've found that as I'm trying to quiet my brain for sleep, my usually cold-tended body suddenly gets hot and I have palpitations, and my head won't stop swimming... this has been happening for the past few nights and I also get some dizziness when I rise and lie down again (perhaps sleep deprivation or an inner ear prob not sure..)

I asked Why is this happening?
60.6> 61

'...the tormented body will rebel against excessive asceticism...'
I think saying I need to control myself and calm down - give my brain a break...
Also seems to talk of being ruthless and 'saving the soul against irresolution and temptation' so perhaps saying I'm putting too much pressure on myself - taking too much stuff in (like Rabbit in Winnie the Pooh always rushing for the next book - and perhaps not finishing the first... - my attention keeps getting diverted by new inspirations etc, and books I feel I should read etc... I have too many books!). Also could be related to food so I asked

Is it to do with too much sugar? (tend to have desert...)
30.2,4,6 > 11

I think confirming - especially 30.4 > 'It flames up, dies down, is thrown away' (Sugar Rush!!) 30.2 talks of finding the mean...
But then 30.6 suggests that sugar doesn't need to be cut out completely 'Asceticism that is too strict fails in its purpose..' (which I couldn't really do anyway..)

Then changing to 11 (again!) representing the importance of a balanced diet...
