I'm starting to get a better sense of how to use the wisdom of Yi and am pleased to offer help to a friend through making a deeper enquiry on his behalf (with his permission). He has had a persistent skin disease for a number of years and is feeling very burdened by it. Nothing he's tried has healed it and Its caused him to shun romantic relationships, so he's been on his own for a long time.

I asked Yi a number of questions to help him gain understanding of his situation:

What is the deepest voice of his disease?
56.4.6>15

What is it there to teach him?
47.1.2>17

How does he heal himself of this affliction?
1.4.6>5

What about a relationship
47.3.4.5>46

I have the sense that the readings are showing him the heaviness of the situation and how his own thoughts have created this sense of oppression and confinment, but there also seems to be a sense of optimism and the greater workings of the universe on his behalf.

As always, your wise counsel to help me gain better understanding of these readings is much appreciated.

Hi dancing flame,
Why don't you ask your friend to ask what he'd like to know, and cast himself?
Perhaps then the answers would give a clearer picture.

Hi Diamanda, thanks for responding.

These are his questions not mine, I just threw the coins for him as he's not used to Yi and agreed to ask for insight from you guys, but all at his request.

Hope that's ok with you and you're ok to give feedback.

Ok then :) here's how they sound to me.

What is the deepest voice of his disease?
56.4.6>15

It forces him into isolation, and he's unhappy. In 56:6 there's a very
strong warning that if he doesn't take action to overcome feeling so
cut off, then he'll even lose what few things he's got going for him,
and he'll destroy his future with his own hands. The resulting 15 shows
that if he heeds the warning of 56:6, then with modest action he'll
manage to overcome the problem.

What is it there to teach him?
47.1.2>17

I don't think there's a specific lesson to him. 47 is drained, without
words. Your friend is suffering great exhaustion, great suffering,
sadness for many years (47:1) and even every day simple 'joys' have
no joy for him anymore, as he feels empty. Loneliness and depression
seem to be very severe here. The disease itself does not hold a
lesson, but 17 does. He needs to ponder on what it is that makes
people follow someone. Who would want to hang around with someone
who has given up, who is secluded, who has no joy, has nothing to
give, and does not want to take anything either, someone totally
cut off and sad? He needs to overcome 47:1 and 47:2 and find a way
to follow others, so that in turn others follow him. If there is to be
following, there first needs to be joy - without that things can't move
on.

How does he heal himself of this affliction?
1.4.6>5

Interesting answer, and i don't know exactly what it might mean in
his case, but: 1:4 speaks about "leaping upwards from the deep",
and 1:6 warns not to leap too high, not to fly. This could mean
moderate exercise? Or metaphorically, starting to emerge from
the 'deep end'? I've found line 1:6 very often related to 56:6, they
so often seem to go together in readings, strange. Your friend
should avoid isolation (and arrogance) at all costs. 5 is all about
nourishing oneself properly, and being patient. It does hold the
promise that healing will come.

What about a relationship
47.3.4.5>46

Very promising about a relationship, but not before solving the 47
problem first. Your friend is making his situation worse than it
really is, by isolating himself, and making a mountain of the whole
problem (47:3). No matter what he does, he feels oppressed,
nothing can make him feel joy. By continuing on this path, he feels
more and more exhausted, and feels hemmed in from all sides and
trapped. He needs to slowly start overcoming all this. He needs to
see someone (a specialist? a doctor? a psychologist? well, someone
in the know). He needs to start making slow steady progress, and
this is the road to lead him to a relationship.

Hope it makes sense to you and him, give him my good wishes.

Thanks Diamanda,

This is really useful and confirms my understanding of the reading. I've shared it with my friend and he sends his thanks and to let you know he's really grateful for it. After years of feeling put down he's beginning to take a more honest look at himself and is willing to take responsibility for what he's created and make changes.

Its really helped me too in gaining a better understanding of Yi and its counsel. I'm interested in the connection between 1.6 and 56.6 so will explore this more.

Thanks again for you help
