Lost/Stolen Luggage, Feeling So Despondent 61.3.4.5 -> 14

I asked a taxi cab driver to let me get out of his car halfway to my destination at 2 am in a snowstorm because he was driving so dangerously on an icy highway and I felt genuinely afraid for my safety (his windshield defroster didn't work or he didn't know how to use it, and the glass was almost completely obscured--other drivers were honking at his erratic driving, but he was wearing earbuds, etc.). We had a dispute, as I was angry he'd coaxed me into his cab at the airport and put me in this dangerous situation. I got out of the cab and he drove away with two large pieces of luggage that contained thousands of dollars worth of belongings, all the clothes and toiletries I own, medications + supplies for my cat, & several irreplaceable handwritten manuscripts that I don't have copies of (I am a writer), precious gifts from my mother, etc. I am so devastated by this. I live in NYC. I didn't get his name or any identifying information for him or the car. I've made a dozen fruitless phone calls, and will file a police report, but in NYC it's very hard to imagine I will recover anything. I have no identifying information for him or the vehicle. I'm really struggling financially, so replacing all of this stuff feels crushingly impossible, but what hurts most is the manuscripts. Right now my only hope is that he will do the right thing and leave it at the airport lost and found, but it hasn't turned up there yet. This all happened 12 hours ago.

Thank you in advance for any insights!! I asked three questions:

Where is my luggage?
15.4 -> 62
Modesty changing to small powers. This seems to be about not attempting too much, but I don't understand how it relates to the location of my bags.

Will I be able to get my luggage back, or is it hopeless?
61.3.4.5 -> 14
Inner truth changing to wealth. I can't say if I know in my gut what the answer to this question is, as I'm too upset. Part of me things I'll recover the bags and the "wealth" therein, part of me thinks it's hopeless and I need to realize my wealth is all inside of me. (?)

What should I do to recover my luggage?
10.2.4 -> 42
Treading turning to increase. Work carefully step by step to see progress?

Thank you for any help you might offer!

If I can think of anything to say about the readings I'll come back to this, but just real quick, do you even know what cab company it is?

If so, if you could somehow go there in person (instead of phoning, it's easier to put someone off over the phone) and do your very best begging and pleading while still seeming like a sane and sensible person, not hysterical - wouldn't the company know which of their drivers were out at a particular time and place, do you think?

Maybe that's not how it works, though, I don't know anything about cab companies.

And many, many, many hugs and crossed fingers. This is awful. I would be hysterical.

I did get begging and pleading from 10.4 when I looked up the lines, but I'm not at all sure I understand the context of everything put together. For instance, the entire 61 reading could mean you know better than to expect to get anything back...could, but I'm not sure, and it's probably worth pulling out every stop and overturning every rock for a while. Won't hurt anything, at least, other than being a miserable thing to have to do.

...what about going back to the airport? Would they have records of exactly what cabs were working at a particular time, if so could that help you narrow down who it might have been? (Contradicting myself, would calling first make sense with this one? If the airport says they don't even keep records, no point in going there, I guess.)

Thanks so much for your compassionate reply, Liselle. Unfortunately I don't know what cab company it is, but I did spend much of today calling all the yellow cab companies in the city, though nothing came of that. I do plan to go to the airport tomorrow as there may be camera footage of me getting into the cab, in which case it might be possible to ID the cab company and driver of that particular vehicle. Thank you again! If you or others do have any further insights into the hexagrams I would be most grateful.

Camera footage - what a good idea, there are cameras everywhere nowadays. 🤞

Maybe don't lose any time, though? Don't mean to stress you out more, but on TV cop shows (highly accurate source of information :rolleyes2: ), camera footage seems not to be kept very long.

Another couple of nutty ideas...

1. Maybe repeat the phone calls. There've been times I've called a place's customer service, been told something, called back for some reason, and been told something different from the first time. I suspect these folks might be poorly trained, bored, badly paid, not too interested, or have too much to remember, so maybe it's luck of the draw whether you get someone who's invested in their job at that moment. So maybe try again until you have more than one person telling you the same thing...maybe...

2. Could you try to find out if any cabs were in accidents? I half-wonder if there's a tone in the readings of "it is what it is, but better than being in an accident." If the idiot did wreck his cab - what you were afraid of in the first place - it and your suitcases might be locked up in a wrecked-car lot or at a garage to be fixed.

What I mean is, airports are open all night, and if by chance they only keep footage for 24 hours, that'll be 6 hours from now. You wouldn't want to get there tomorrow morning and find it was erased in the middle of the night.

Obviously I don't know that. Am catastrophizing.
