Me and M Hexagram 18

I adopted a little dog about a month ago and we have been adjusting to living together. He’s 18 months old. He was raised in a cage on a farm without much human contact for his first 6 months of life. Then he was given to a foster family where he was crated again. Then back to his previous owner and now he’s with me. I have some concerns about M. First off, it’s pretty cold where we live and he seems to have a cold and a runny nose. Secondly, he seems to have trouble breathing sometimes. But everyone says it’s always the same with this breed. I have a coat for him but he rubs around on his back on the ground until it comes off. Also as a tiny puppy he was injured and his legs were broken and repaired using steel pins.

I asked how is M doing and was surprised to get Hexagram 23 unchanging.

This really frightened me. I’m worried that he might be seriously ill.

I then asked what is going on between me and M and got hexagram 18.

I really don’t understand these readings. Should I chalk it up to a fluke and check back in a day or so? Or do these reading have real significance?

I hope someone has a opportunity to read and comment. Thanks in advance.

23: Someone above him (you) is being generous to him.
Nothing to fear.

18: You stir up and strengthen each other. (as pets often do)

Just Lovely 😊

I am awed by your response. Very deep and insightful. It both feels resonates as true and assuages my anxieties and fears.

It also corresponds to the facts. I love him so much already! We have been having a ball together. He’s such a card!

My understanding of the I Ching has taken a great leap upward since paying closer attention on this forum and I’m grateful for this.

I probably won’t ever be as resistant to Hexagram 23 because apparently it can mean so much more than mere destruction and decay. Here it’s a picture of vigilance. There it’s a picture of cutting out the excess. Not always so bad...

So thanks again and best wishes,
S.
