Hello, here is the thing..I got hex 2 unchanged for asking about a certain segment of my life by the end of the year.
In my book, hex 2 means to wait, anticipate, no action, being led (being a female, when it comes to the relationship issues, for instance), in other words, nothing will happen.

I was a bit, shall we say, rattled by an understatement someone gave in previous conversation I had, somewhat related to the previous question.
So I asked the Yi, can you be more specific on that hex 2 UN reading? Hex 45.3,6<33
This is an contradictory reading, I find, and even some members see those lines differently, http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?t=6691, for example.
Some say it is about not belonging and without hope of getting in the group, period. Some say, help is possible to get.
On the 6th line, some say it is about a need to change the attitude, some it is about expressing feelings in a loud manner, which does not look the same to me. And to whom? The supposed helper from the 3rd line?

It may as well be that Yi was answering my agitated state at the moment, mirroring the conversation Treat emotions in the way a horse should be handled.LiSe
I mean, it is contradicting - explanation for passive Earth Gathering but Retreating?
What to make out of the explanation?

I don't think of hexagram 2 as being "no action". I think of it as being "receptive action" or "guided action". To quote from Hilary's translation:

"Earth
From the source, creating success.
The constancy of a mare bears fruit
A noble one has a direction to go."

A mare is hardly passive. She is a strong animal that can get somewhere fast or pull heavy machinery to plow a field. So, what is the direction you want your life to take by the end of the year?

And more from the translation:

At first, confusion. Later, gains a master.
Fruitful in the southwest, gaining partners.
In the northeast, losing partners.
Peaceful constancy brings good fortune."

"gaining partner" seems consistent with Hexagram 45. If I remember correctly, In Hilary's "Words of Change" she speaks to the "southwest" being a place where we are no longer alone as opposed the the "northeast' which is a place of lonely striving.

It is difficult for me to comment on the 3rd and 6th changing lines as they relate to your specific question without knowing the details of your situation. Perhaps you are needing to retreat from a situation that isn't working in order to join with others in a situation that could work? Or is it an internal situation you need to retreat from in order to gather the internal resources you need that will help you towards your goal?

Hexagram 33 often surprises me when it comes up in readings for me. I often find LiSe Heyboer's translation and commentary helpful. She calls H.33 "Save your Bacon" and says:
"Sometimes you are the pig, running for your life, and sometimes you are the one who has to chase after the things that sustain your life"

So I am wondering, what is your heart's desire for the segment of your life in question? What do you have to gallop away from or towards to reach it?

Such an wise and wonderful outlook on hex 2, callingcrane (and love your name, very poetic image for me). It is just that for me, hex 2 means more of the same, bow your head, work in silence, follow, do not create...and I need creative changes, I need them yesterday - my life is just like a mare limping through the dry land.

Hm, my question was more of a feeling..something like how will I feel, sentimentally, will i be filled, optimistic..that sort of a thing; not in English, not able to check atm.
So when hex 2 and 35.3,6, connected, obviously i am a minority, wanting to enlarge/change. It is hard for me to distinct second reading from the first, I like to think YI knows what to tell me, not its fault I don`t get it.
