More on 49, and also 40

I am trying to discern what Yi's advice is to me today. I have gotten a couple of the lines recently when asking about my love life that seemed to indicate a chance meeting. Then today, I met someone on the phone. I called him for information about one of my clients and he liked my voice and we got to talking. He ended up asking me out. I told him I would think about it. I am hesitating because he is older than men I normally like and I have no idea what he looks like. Also, though he seemed nice enough, I am not sure if we would be my type. I am looking for someone very romantic, and I did not get that feeling from him. He made me laugh, but I am not sure if that was him or my being nervous talking to him.

So I asked, what should I do about this man? 49.4.5, should I go out with him? 40.2

In another thread on 49, Dobro said this about 49.5...

Reading that I wondered if it meant my hesitation, that I had reason for it and should follow the instinct. 49.4 talks about making changes for the right reason. I thought this might be telling me not to go out with him because I'm lonely or because I recently had the reading that mentioned a chance meeting. 49.5 seems to say follow your own intuition, at least thats what I think it says. 40.2 is confusing be because the interpretations I have are very different. In one it talks of a destructive element at work, possibly your own negative attitude and not missing a valuable opportunity. From that I would have thought to ignore my hesitation, Karcher also seems to indicate moving forward, though the interpretation is not as clear. Wilhelm talks of not falling for flattery and dedicating yourself to deliverance, which I would think is almost the oppisite of the other two interpretations.

So, can anyone shed some light on this?

BTW, I also got a reading recently about what I should do in my love life 44.2.3.4.5.6. I had 2 friends who told me today that I should go out with this guy. One interpretation I have for 44.6 talks of making a decision that is not popular so it made me wonder if this was it. Anyway, as always any help is greatly appreciated. I am still learning all the subtle meanings of the different lines.

Well, think I got an answer, asked for a very clear answer and then asked what if I go out with him? 54.6 That seems pretty clear it is not the way to go. Would still like some input on the above readings though, just for learning purposes.

I also asked, ok, now that that is over, what does the next month look like for my love life? 60.2, which talks of seizing an opportunity, so guess there is more coming my way.

49 talks about shedding external forms, and 49.5 and 49.6 are essentially thumbs up about shedding external forms. Plus, the relating hex is 30, which talks about radiance, among other things. So what is it that you are to shed in this situation? Your single status, or the idea of connecting with him? Which one seems more right? See, one interpretation would be: "Shed the present appearance and manner of your life here - it's all good - and that will involve something radiant."

Yly, interesting you should say that, today I asked where do I go from here and 44.5. Guess I should get to know this line better.

Dobro, dont know why I got that 40.2, but the rest I have a strong feeling is saying this wouldn't end up well. Maybe the 40.2 is saying I would learn something, but I don't feel like going through all that right now just to learn something. I'd rather be alone, work on my self and wait until something with more promise comes along. Gee, maybe I've learned something already

(2) Why line 1 no change?
(3) Imagine in a "puzzle game", how to put each and every "piece" of changing line in its right place, in the context of 44?

Looks to me as though there's real continuity through these readings. 44.5 is a real tip off to the reason behind the other readings. Without going into the why/wherefore, here's what I see.

You are going through a process in which the old is being cast off. But there's more here than just losing the old. There's also birthing of the new. That which you are carrying as a child has yet to be fully developed. Therefore it is extremely important that this new unborn thing in you is adequately protected. There are elements at work in your life that can bring potential harm to this child you carry. If you listen to the voices within and without which flatter you or titillate your need for masculine attention, you endanger what is sacred within you (represented by the fan yao of 44.5: 50, the cauldron). First take care of this unborn thing in you so that it can reach fruition. Then it will be safe for you and this "child" to consider a meaningful relationship with a suitor.
