Hi,

I've been a freelance copy editor for many enjoyable years. However, I've a need to do something different (even if it's only slightly different) and earn more money, because meeting the cost of living has gotten quite tough. I'm consideirng moving into full-time work, setting my sights on working for an international charity--I don't have a specific one in mind, only that's the field I'd like to be involved with.

So I asked, Will I find full-time work soon? And I received 44.2.3.4.6 --> 8, Coupling/Meeting becoming Seeking Union, which seems very appropriate. However, with the 4 changing lines, I'm unsure how to read it. The 4 changing lines individually lead to Retreat, Arguing, Subtle Penetration, and Great Overstepping, respectively.

Can anybody please suggest how this can be interpreted? I appreciate all help offered. :bows:

Best wishes,
Compass

As you have asked a yes or no question I think the negative lines of 44 are answering no, you are not heading for full-time work in the near future. Given that you have been free-lancing for so long and that you don't have a specific charity in mind perhaps you are being given guidance as to what you need to do first.
44. emphasizes the importance of looking at many opportunities without being lured into something that might be unsatisfactory, something that causes you to impulsively quit your current job, sell all your furniture, and move to India only to wake up and say, "hmm..."
Perhaps getting more clear about what you really like about your current situation (cause you don't know what you've got till it's gone) and what it is you find appealing about international charity work will give you the clarity/protection you need so you don't sign up for something right now that sounds marvelous in the moment but really isn't your best choice when a better fit could be coming up on the horizon in a month or two after you've fine tuned your intention.

Thanks, Rosada, that makes a lot of sense. It also dawns on me that maybe I asked the wrong question. Maybe I should be asking about the kind of international charity it would be best to work for, or what it would be like to work for certain charities or to have to commute to work for a change. As you say, figure out what I like about my current situation ... and what I'm itching to change.

Actually, I feel I know what kind of charities I'd like to work for: ones like Amnesty or Oxfam or Unicef or Medicins sans Frontieres--those trying to make a difference in areas beseiged by war or poverty or struggling to make it--mainly, to help bring some healing to the world the best way I can (every little bit helps, even in the most humblest of tasks). So it's more a matter of figuring out which positions I would like to apply for: either something in editing or writing or maybe something completely different.
