Never finding love - 37.3.5.6

Hi there!

I'm Ana, 28 years old, from Europe. Nice to meet you all.
I'm new to this community and new into the I Ching too. I do my best to learn and do my own interpretations as much as I can. But...junior as I am, I must admit that most of the time I need guidance from more experienced people to be able to see the real meaning behind the results I'm getting from the Yi. So I'm really happy I found this forum and hope I can get a little help with the interpretation.

Here's my problem. I had a relationship/love question for the oracle: when will I find true love? Answer: hexagram 37.3.5.6 changing to 24. I know it sounds like a silly-much too general-over-asked question. I've been reading some threads here and found out that this type of question is not the best one could ask. I agree. However, this is something very important to me. This love thing is the worst chapter of my life and I kind of lost hope that things would ever be better. I've always had success with the opposite sex, can't complain about that, yet always been unlucky: wrong people, bad timing, complicated short relationships, bad circumstances, long periods of solitude, never finding what I really wanted to find. Not that I want the impossible, it's just that it never seems to be the right time or the right person for me.

I don't know how to read Yi's answer with 37 hexagram, especially that my question referred to timing/context of meeting someone right for me. I only hope it doesn't indicate a married man. It would be the cherry on top of my already disastrous history.

Any thoughts anyone on how to read this cast?

The method I use to interpret the I Ching does not give answers to WHEN questions. Maybe someone else can help you.

line 1/6 hexagram 37 tells me that you do not have any man in mind (no applicant for the job of your lover) because the line 1/6 character sits empty under the month of marriage (month of the reading = house of marriage).

May be after Feb 5 2013 to April 5 2013, if someone appears.

line 3 tells me that there is a marriage document with a man behind. The man behind sits empty under your house of spouse. You do not want a married man. The change line 3 means that you do not want a man in a relationship looking for a female.

line 2 = host line = you. You think of a female, and not a man. This line is in conflict with another female in line 4.

line 5 = guest line = him. You want a man who is interested in you (soul mate). Change line becomes a marriage document that conflicts with your house of spouse. This means this man has not appeared yet.

I do not know whether you know any married man. Line 3 is in conflict with line 5 characters. If you know one, then this man cannot continue with you. His reappearance on line 6 of returning means that he is leaving or gone back to his former relationship.

Thank you, Long Yi. I wish I knew how to read the hexagrams in the way you do it, especially when it comes to timing and identifying lines with different "characters" in the story. I think your method is not only fascinating, but very accurate.

You are right, I didn't have anyone in mind when asking this question, I'm simply wondering when will the right man come into my life. However, there is a married man I like and admire from a distance, but there is nothing between us, I'm not in love with him and I would never interfere in his marriage. It's just that every time I see him or hear about his work and the great things he does for other people, I think to myself that he's the kind of man I would marry some day. He is more like someone to look up to, a very special person reminding me strongly of my lost father, but I didn't think of him when asking Yi my question.

You are also right that there is no one in my life at the present moment, so yes, this man hasn't appeared yet. At least, not as a lover.

I forgot to mention that hexagram 37 appeared other times too, in the past, when asking similar questions, like "will I ever find my soul mate", usually with lines 5 and 6 changing.

However, today I asked the oracle a slightly different question: "what kind of man is right for me?". The result put a smile on my face: hexagram 15.2.3 to 7. I really like Yi's answer, sounds like the kind of person I would not only fall in love with, but also admire.
