Nice to have a bit of Shadow for contrast

Although not everyone's cup of tea, I like to refer tho Karcher's Shadow Sites with some of my readings.
So, I'm wondering about the possibility of a field added in the Hexagrams of Context section of the Hexagram Browser, obviously with the functionality to click and go to the text of the chosen translator as with the existing buttons.

Can we also have the Ideal, because it goes with it? (At least per Karcher - I agree the Shadow's more helpful, though. Point is if one's added, should the other be. You did include it in your course.)

While on the subject of context hexagrams, could the Yijing Cast tab information be changed to say "Pair" and not "Contrasting"? I get that some authors call the pair the contrast, but you're not one of them, Hilary, and it's your software so it should sound like you imo. Also don't some authors say "the contrasts" to mean a whole set of things? That's not what's meant here, either.

Also, "Opposite." Even here on Clarity it's variously called "opposite" or "complement" - in my head I usually say "Opposite/Complement" or "Complement/Opposite" because I think I've seen both concepts fit at different times. What would you think of either of the slashed terms?

(And what would you think about a second section in the tab, for the relating hexagram's context? I don't have much feel for how useful that is, but in theory it seems it could be. I've put one or two "shadow sentence" examples in WikiWing, but for all I know they're the exceptions proving the rule.)

Thanks for the thoughts. I've sent Justin a link to this to see what he thinks! I see what you mean about Ideal. Personally I don't have a use for them, but Shadow is Karcher's thing, and if he says it goes with the Ideal, probably it should go with the Ideal.

Yes, that would be a nice to have for me too.

Plus, as I've now got my want, want, want head on, how about two windows able to be open at the same time Shadow and Ideal side by side. I like to scroll down and compare line texts in different windows.

Here's an idea that would perhaps take a bit more coding work for Justin again associated with Yijing Cast

Seperate tabs next to the Hexagram Text tab for hexagrams identified from the reading
Relating Hexagram
Yin Pattern of Change
Yang Pattern of Change
Nuclear Hexagram
Contrasting Hexagram
Opposite Hexagram
Steps of Change

I know that the latter ones are all listed at the end of the Hexagram Text but it would be more immediate for interpretation if the journey to each hexagram was a bit more immediate. Being able to have open multiple windows would be icing on the cake e.g. all the steps of change hexagrams available to look at next to each other, or the Relating open next to the Nuclear as well as the Primary Hexagram.

Just trying to state it here sounds complicated so I guess that the programming needed would not be easy. I know that you can have mutiple windows of Hexagram Browser open at the same time but it would in my mind be slicker (i.e. user friendly) to be able to produce this directly out of the Yijing Cast.

That's my nice to have juices dried up for the moment.

I understand completely. It's easy to make wish lists for software functionality but the poor old programmer has to make it real and glitch free. Take as much time thinking as you need.

I'd like the option to have to juggle the windows. Maybe have a click screen ( that's as technical as my jargon gets) like the boxes in the Advanced Search that selects the ones you want open, so you can initially choose tohave as many or as few open as you like.

Yes, I see your point. I like the existing multiple windows, for instance to keep different sets of search results open.

I've also often wished we could open different readings in different windows. Would make cross-referencing and so forth easier.

Stealing ideas from browsers - mine has many options for opening links and arranging tabs:

• open in new tab
• open in same tab
• open in new window
• tiling (split screen), which is handy as heck
• opening sets of tabs in new windows
• maybe others

But yes, first we need item no. 1 on the wish list: clones of Justin.
