An old acquaintance of mine recently turned into something more. As some of you may know I just came out of a difficult relationship with another man. I really like this new man I am dating, he seems sensitive, respectful, thoughtful and honest. Everything the previous guy was not. It's not my habit to jump so quickly from one man to another. We have been on two dates so far, taking thing really slow, which I really appreciate. I can still feel some of the anxiety of my previous relationship and am doing my best to project anything on this new, really sweet man. I wanted to see if I could get some insight about what is happening between me and X romantically;

Please show me a picture of how my relationship with X is unfolding? Hex 48

So I take this answer as there is a lot of potential but we have to do the work to bring it to realization.
Any other insights as always, much appreciated.

Hello! 48 is a well, that is, a common good... In the field of relationships, does that mean that there is an enriching potential for both of you, but that there are other thing to consider? I do not know... Moreover, UC is not easy to decipher, as if there is no concrete answer at the moment because it is the beginning?
48 : "If you are almost in the water but the rope is not yet fully descended or the jug breaks, it brings misfortune" : perhaps to say that you have to wait for a time of maturation, to go slowly...
Maybe another draw in a while? 🧘‍♀️

I assume you mean you are doing your best to not project onto this man, is that right?

And to further clarify, you had no moving lines, is that right?

Yes Matali I think you nailed it! Take it slow in order to reach for the enriching potential. Not sure how to translate the common good though. Will meditate on it.

Hello Dancing Fox. The text for Hex. 48 reads:

A city moves, a well does not. No loss, no gain.
There is constant coming and going.
If the rope is too short to draw water from the well,
or the dipping jar damaged ....
(this can be - but need not be) Disastrous.

-- Richard Rutt's translation, (with a few additions!)

Another person here said that an unchanging hexagram, UC, 'is not easy to decipher', but that's not my takeaway here .... So, as to how this applies to your relationship ....

I can imaging the 'city moving' as being the different people, relationships, and circumstances in your life, which keep changing - coming and going - but what you gain from, or hope for from this relationship - the well - remains the same. And so you have a new relationship, with a new more sensitive, respectful, thoughtful and honest man. And that's a good thing! But the well - this new relationship - is still a well, and like all wells it needs care and attention for you to get nourishment from it.

What I see being recommended here: this new relationship, like all relationships, needs care and attention (and at times, working on) for it to keep nourishing you - it is not self-sustaining. And therefore, you maintain it:

* If the rope is too short, or the dipping jar is damage then you repair or replace them.

I also imagine that this well 'care and maintenance' involves caring for each other's differences and what each of you brings to the relationship: perhaps one of you is more thoughtful, or adventurous, or cautious, or more emotional ... but that all needs looking after .... And it's all good stuff.

All the best ....
