Hi Pocossin,
My email is globalexander555@yahoo.com
Thank you in advance.
Say, can you recommend any good book(s) on Plum Blossom Numerology? After reading the thread, everyone commented that every book described the methodology differently. So, in your opinion, who's right?
Regards

Hi sparhawk,
There is a link in your message to http://www.scribd.com/doc/24084402/i-Ching-Numerology for the I Ching Numerology by Da Liu. To download the book, one has to subscribe to scribd.com as a paying member. I wonder whether you know any website where I can download the book for free? If no, do you have a copy where you can email it to me? Regards globalex (globalexander555 at yahoo dot com).

Hi, globalex!
I have revisited the forum after several months away. You asked Pocossin to recommend you some books on Plum Blossom Numerology.
I use BUT Plum Blossom in my readings, so if you allow my brief intrusion, I recommend you Da Liu's "I Ching Numerology" and Dr Wang Yang / Jon Sandifer's "The authentic I Ching." The former has gone up in price a lot and I don't know where you could find a free e-version. The latter is quite inexpensive and very useful, so if you plan on using Plum Blossom a lot it might be worth the investment. Lillian Too's "The new I Ching" is also about Plum Blossom, also inexpensive, but... well, very much in Too's style. Da Liu's is the most complete, especially the list of attributes for each trigram. If you begin your readings with an analysis of the trigrams before proceeding with the comments, I think Da Liu is invaluable. It usually hits the mark with me, at least.
This is my personal recommendation if you care to know. Let's see if Pocossin chimes in with an answer to your question.
Have a nice day!

''The I Ching can be helpful in choosing an analyst to work with. When I was choosing an analyst in Zurich, I got names from several people and learned as much as I could about each. I then asked the I Ching about working with each analyst. The lower trigram was the same in all three answers, while the upper trigrams varied, hinting that the lower trigram represented me and the upper trigram the analyst in question. The particularly positive hexagram I got about one analyst and the positive dreams I had about her helped me decide to work with her, which turned out to be a good choice. Now, when a person consults the I Ching about a relationship issue, I consider how the trigrams may represent each partner''.

Thats from an article about using the I Ching in psychoanalysis. He wasnt talking about Mei Hua but it should appeal to Plum Blossom enthusiasts.
I liked the medical Plum Blossom paper by Lorraine Wilcox available via Pocossin. Its a good read.

Hi Globalexander,

Scribd works in two different ways, one as you've described and the other is to upload documents to create "credit" with the service. If you have a few interesting PDF files around, you can upload them (creating a free account, of course) and then you'll be able to download your file.

Query - Najia

Hi pocossin,
Hope everything's fine with you.
Just like to ask you about this Najia methodology as written in the book by Sherrill & Chu.
(1) Is the sequence of the trigrams used post-heaven?
(2) In Table 5, p.40 of the book, the letter symbols stated next to the lines of the hexagrams are similar for Heaven and Thunder. Do you think there is a misprint? If so, do you know what is the correct configuration?
(3) Do you know any books on the Najia methodology?

Horary Branch symbols related to trigrams:
Upper
________ k ____ ____ k
________ i ____ ____ i
________ g _________ g

Lower
________ e ____ ____ e
________ c ____ ____ c
________ a _________ a

Sorry, globalex. I don't have Sherrill & Chu. I hope someone else can answer your question.

Don't know anything about Sh. & Chu but its not a misprint. The branches for heaven and thunder are the same : lower, rat tiger dragon and upper, horse monkey dog.

I would be happier if lower heaven was horse monkey dog and upper heaven was rat tiger dragon, instead of the other way around. It might be something to do with assigning branches to certain hexagrams which are 6 clash and 6 match.

Hi peterg,
Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.
Just by reading it, I thought it was a misprint that both the Heaven and Thunder hexagrams (upper and lower trigrams) have the same letters attached to their lines.
Anyway, continuing with the book by Sherrill and Chu, "The Anthology of I Ching", it seems that modular arithmetic is being used to calculate the different variations for the magic square of 3 - Nine House or Star Astrology (pp.81-82). The magic square is based on the Lo Map (Later Heaven).
Do you know any source where I can find the different variations for the Ho Map (Early Heaven)?
Later Heaven
04 09 02
03 05 07
08 01 06

Early Heaven
02 07 04
03 05 09
08 01 06

Cheers

Hi peterg,
I have been wondering about the branches in all the trigrams (Najia). The letters attached to them in Sherrill & Chu applied to the Later Heaven sequence (Lo Map). Do you think they can be applied to the Early Heaven (Ho Map)? If so, do the positions of the letters on the branches have to be re-orientated? This is just a thought.
(I haven't found any reading material on it. No idea whether this is in the book, Super I Ching by Alex Chiu).

I haven't read Sh.& Chu and the river maps make me 'none the wiser'.
All the na jia books and teachers use the same system to assign the branches to the trigrams.
