Identify which of the first six hexagrams goes with each Image.

In all his transactions the superior man
Carefully considers the beginning.

The superior man fosters his character
By thoroughness in all that he does.

The superior man who has breadth of character
Carries the outer world.

The superior man makes himself strong and untiring.

The superior man eats and drinks,
Is joyous and of good cheer.

The superior man
Brings order out of confusion.

Hex. 6, hex. 4, hex. 2, hex. 1, hex. 5, hex. 3.
How'd ya do?

Ready for the next round? Match these Images with hexagrams 7 - 12.

The superior man discriminates between high
and low,
And thereby fortifies the thinking of the people.

The ruler
Divides and completes the course of heaven and earth;
He furthers and regulates the gifts of heaven and earth,
and so aids the people.

The kings of antiquity
Bestowed the different states as fiefs
And cultivated friendly relations
With the feudal lords.

The superior man falls back upon his inner
worth
In order to escape the difficulties.
He does not permit himself to be honored
with revenue.

The superior man increases his masses
By generosity toward the people.

The superior man
Refines the outward aspect of his nature.

Answers to the above:
hex. 10, hex. 11, hex. 8, hex. 12, hex. 7, hex. 9.

Onward...
Which Images go with hexagrams 13 - 18?

13. Fellowship with Men.
14. Possession in Great Measure
15. Modesty
16. Enthusiasm
17.Following
18. Work on What Has Been Spoiled

The superior man organizes the clans
And makes distinctions between things.

:bows:
The superior man reduces that which is too
much,
And augments that which is too little.
He weighs things and makes them equal.

:stir:
the superior man stirs up the people
And strenghtens their spirit.

:D
The ancient kings made music
In order to honor merit,
And offered it with splendor
To the Supreme Deity,
Inviting their ancestors to be present.

;)
The superior man at nightfall,
Goes indoors for rest and recuperation.

:)
The superior man curbs evil and furthers good,
And thereby obeys the benevolent will of heaven.

Moving right along...

Hexagrams 19 - 24

19. Approach
20. Contemplation (View)
21. Biting Through
22. Grace
23. Splitting Apart
24. Return

:lalala:
The kings of antiquity closed the passes
At the time of solstice.
Merchants and strangers did not go about,
And the ruler
Did not travel through the provinces.

The superior man is inexhaustible
In his will to teach,
And without limits
In his tolerance and protection of the people.

:flirt:
Thus does the superior man proceed
When clearing up current affairs,
But he dare not decide controversial issues this way.

:mischief:
Those above can ensure their position
Only by giving generously to those below.

The kings of old visited the regions of the world,
Contemplated the people,
And gave them instruction.

:brickwall:
The kings of former times made firm the laws
Through clearly defined penalties.

Re

Funny. But I think that "" is #21: big eyes (Li) above the fallen chap (Zhen).

Everybody wants to get into the act....
Actually your suggestion got me thinking, Peter. If there were to be an icon for each trigram, what would they be? How about...

 Li, the clinging.

:D Tui, the joyous.

 Chen, the arousing.

:( K'un, the receptive.

 Ken, keeping still.

 K'an, the abysmal.

 Sun, the gentle.

:bows: Ch'ien, the creative.

Then we could make little totem poles to represent each hexagram.

:bag:=36 hiding brightness
:stir: =50 the vessel
:hissy: = 60 articulating
:eek:uch: = 51 Shake

I think Hilary ought to make the definitive list ;)

love 36, lol, btw the pot stirer for 50 looks pretty malevolent - thats not someone harmlessly stirring a cauldron thats someone out to stir up trouble - ahh that could be 44, (depending on your view of 44 the most controversial hexagram ever)

36.Thus does the superior man live with the great mass:
He veils his light yet still it shines.

Oh, Bravo! Definitely.
