Hexagram 64.5.6 to 47

Hexagram 64 says Not Yet Across
The Oracle text says Not yet across, creating success. The small fox, almost across, Soaks its tail:
No direction bears fruit.'
This does not augur success. It seems to be saying the time is not yet right.
Yet it seems to me that the answer is yes the textbook will be successful judging from the changing lines.
Line 5 says
'Constancy, good fortune, no regrets.
A noble one's radiance.
There is truth and confidence, good fortune.'

Line 6 says'Being true and confident in drinking wine.
Not a mistake.
Soaking your head,
Being true and confident, losing your grip on that.'

To me line 6 says the book will be successful if I don't overdo it. It therefore contains a caution but it is still quite positive. It is just saying I must get too cocky. I'm a bit confused. Are the lines contradicting the Oracle or must I only look at the lines?

Hex 47 to me means that the success of the book will not change my position of confinement and isolation. I am confined and isolated but feel the need to get something out into the world to remind it I exist

Sorry that should've been "musn't" get too cocky. I want to advance my career by getting my name out there and maybe supplementing my income at the same time.

The lines must be understood in terms of the whole hexagram. I would take it that yes this is something worth going ahead with. Right now you are feeling unnecessarily despondent about possibilities (47) but line 6 especially is a great augury. For me it always means there will be cause to celebrate but you must not let this go to your head so much that you forget the purpose.

There's also the aspect that a text book is a serious book and for some reason that's also making me think of the 47 and your whole approach. I don't know what your approach is but if you are thinking of using a little more levity then that might go well.

This appeared in the middle of a totally unconnected thread, it was funny. I had to re read the whole thread to see why you had said 'mustn't get too cocky' but you weren't in the thread at all except to say you mustn't get too cocky. See post 11 in this thread

You are haunting another thread

Yes. Sorry about the haunting. It was a mistake and I didn't know how to delete it

i agree with your interpretation and Trojina's comments. i'd just add that to me 64 itself in here just says that you're not yet done with the book, it's a process ahead of you still... while 47 in the context of exhaustion might advise a couple of things - in line with 64.5, that to be "believed" (as in Wilhelm's image of 47), that is for it to be successful, you might need to fully exhaust the topic (since it's a textbook i assume the idea is to thoroughly cover a particular subject)? and advising, in line with 64.6, against, as you mentioned, overdoing it, that is working on it so hard (and then celebrating) to the point of exhausting yourself (that'd be again an argument for easing on the approach)?

'Constancy, good fortune, no regrets. A noble one's radiance. There is truth and confidence, good fortune.' - i'd say this means you can be a little cocky (as in, why not, you know what you're writing about). 'Soaking your head, Being true and confident, losing your grip on that.' - but don't get too cocky or drunk ;)
