hello friends. after receiving some 12 uc a couple of times (e.g. to a question "what's wrong with me" :bag, which generally best describes my state of being (on many levels) in recent times, i decided to take matters in my own hands anyway and so i logged back onto a dating site... i wondered what's the point of getting back there again (27.2.3.6 > 11 was the answer ) as i still feel a little blocked internally, not actually ready for a big relationship somehow.

anyway, initially i planned to just make myself feel better and kill time by browsing... but then i came across someone who actually unexpectedly sparked my interest. i'm pretty slow at developing connections but my mind has a tendency to become quite obsessive (probably one of the reasons I Ching's advised me to stand still for a while)... so we exchanged a couple of messages. it seems like we're both quite autonomous creatures who like to walk their own paths... and then i googled the guy (yup, that's just me) and got a bit more impressed and a little anxious at the same time (i feel there's as much potential for a deeper connection as there is for a lot of disagreement).

so, first i asked - what's the potential here, with X? 30.2 > 14

that felt really auspicious at first, but then, looking at the elements, i'm thinking it might also indicate something that burns out as quickly as it ignites? what's your take on it?

then i asked, what are the chances of actually connecting with X irl / f2f... ? 35.3 > 56

line 3 of 35 seems quite promising, yet not sure how to understand the change into 56 in this case... as mentioned, we're both rather independent and the wanderer here brings to mind snufkin from the moomins, if anyone's familiar with the character, making me think of potentially wandering in and out of each others lives while getting to know each other? not really sure how to understand it though.
any ideas? thank you all in advance!

Me too! I get obsessed, fantasize and fantasize, but ignore the little steps to bring me together with my object of desire.

haha, yes, i was generally annoyed and fed up with myself, but indeed had dating in mind when asking the question. what you say is very true, yet that's pretty much a decision i've consciously made myself a while ago, just feels i might have taken it a bit too far... plus, my head was literally blocked at the time due to sinusitis

that's a fair point, thank you for this reminder! sometimes i also look at the trigrams and interpret the change in just their elements, but i think focusing on the line itself makes way more sense here.
and as to travelling, i actually love the sound of it and wish it would come true. though considering we're almost 100km apart, i now wonder if it's to do with that maybe...

would you mind sharing what's the point of stepping outside of Yi here or at least explain how does your advice agree with the lines? i'd really like a date, but the point is, we didn't get to the point of setting a date yet... and things are developing rather slowly. so in the meantime i'm using I Ching to help my overactive mind either not set my hopes up too high or get hung up on just this one guy, especially if there's no potential of actually connecting... and i do realise that for any potential to be fulfilled all need to be in accord, so to speak, so fingers crossed we'll both eventually act on 35.3

Hello Legume. My advice was perhaps simpler than that: that in addition to what the Yi is saying, if there seems to be some potential with this guy, just to explore it more.

Just sort of a 'hey, why don't you see what's there?' I did not mean that you should not consult or ignore the Yi. Just a bit of added friendly advice that you can take or leave as you please.

The larger context - and I say this generally, and not specifically about you - is that people too often give up their decision-making ability and responsibility based on what the Yi is saying - or more correctly on what they think or want the Yi to say. I suspect you may be a bit more discerning than that.
