I looked up Egrets online, and they were all white, whereas the great blue heron does have that black strip on their head. There is someting about them, and foxes and whales... :)

I was thinking about hex 20, in a simplified way (isn't that perhaps the aim? to help us act on our readings in one way? We can't do or think too many things at once after all, though each individual line allows somthing different within that frame of mind...?)

Anyway hex 20 unchanging (personified by a heron):

He stands still and sees things as they are.
If he sees no action, there is no action and he takes no action.
If a fish swims by, then he takes takes action because he was called to.
The end.

In other words, if nothing's happening with this guy, then nothing's happening with this guy. Stop trying to see things that aren't there :(

Cool. Is this your composition?

did this guy actually forbid you to contact him ? If he did then you have to let it go.

If he didn't then couldn't you call him ?

Presumably not or you would have

I don't mind if you evade this question, it is a bit personal, its just a question keeps popping into my head when i read the thread as it would be tragic if this were simply a communication problem

Emails can go missing. I was miffed for a whole week becasue i thought someone ignored my email...then they called me miffed with me for not answering them as they never got the email

Emails aren't always that reliable

Just a thought...probably a silly one

Regret the Egret, Repair On the Heron

Tiger in your post 26 there are just 2 large grey boxes saying 'content protected by owner' with a couple of padlocks
Trojan, mea culpa! I hope you can see the birds now...I can now see them if I log off, but on my portable device (Android phone), I can only see one of them...strange... Anyway, I am sorry; it is a mistake I have made before when trying to "share" pictures, and since I am always logged in as me, I don't catch the mistake.

I think I do have the birds mixed up as well...the white critters in the cell phone picture are the egrets, I think, and the cooperative and very photogenic bird in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park is the Great Blue Heron.

My only defense is simply to say that I am a photographer, not a botanist!:rofl:

Heron Contemplation

Cool. Is this your composition?

yeah.
I've tidied it up a little:

He stands still,
He sees things as they are.
If he sees no action there is no action,
And he takes no action.
But if a fish swims by,
Then he knows to try.

Just a ickle ditty to put me in the right frame of mind to deal with this, as a heron. (Though I guess if the Heron is starving, he should move to a different spot  Though his skinny legs seem to be rooted in the mud...)

I see what you're saying and it might have been that simple, a misunderstanding, had I not pushed him and believed the worst of him. Perhaps he was relieved that I did as it gave him an excuse to cut me out for good.

Embarrisingly I'd say he has forbidden me to contact him. He's taken measures to keep me at arms length. And it hasn't changed for a little over a year now. Oh gawd... why :(

I suppose it's all so I could be who I am today?
I don't know. I just feel it as such a loss. A regret. But maybe I'm even fooling myself here too. Given how he changed towards me. I just want it back as it was, but I probably would never be satisfied because I always secretly wanted more.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I just have one more reading which I thought I'd share, though I know I am just going to be calm and detached like the heron in the poem... I have no choice. Rock and a hard place...

I asked last night, as the situation seems all knotted and not right (from my point of view) maybe he too feels the same urge to reconnect, but is held back... Or is that the ultimate foolery/my denial? In other words
- "Do you think he likes me?"
- "Yeah It's called ricochet flirting: He's ignoring you because he likes you" - lol Kath and Kim)

To make the Q clearer I asked, can you give me a picture of how I stand in his heart?
I thought to myself if the answer was convoluted, it could suggest something, or if not - a halting line - then I am in fact, deluding myself.

I received 12.4,5,6 > 2

Illustrates it all perfectly. It's been very negative for me, but now it's moving into a state of (heron-like) acceptance.
(I had thought to myself, if I receive a passive hex such as 2, it would mean I'm nothing to him; not in his heart or mind in any way state or form)
Conversely I suppose, as a picture of a heart, perhaps he's moving through the stages and wants to unblock it, and will eventually be open to my friendship again?

Is that how you would read it? Would you take the reading as an illustration of his heart when it comes to me, like I asked for?
Or should I take it as a mirror image of the process in me; how I'm moving through the negative situation?
(I'm never sure whether the I Ching disregards your questions or not... What do you think? Perhaps I should be less creative with my questioning...?)

Thanks for any help you can offer on this topic.
