Sharing my experience with 62.2

I had a work related meeting with someone and asked for guidance from the YI.

62.2->32
Passing by one's grandfather. Meeting one's grandmother. Not reaching to one's chief. Meeting his servant. Without fault.

The result: The meeting was cancelled but we had a brief phone discussion, which went fairly well. Nothing of any significance has come out of this phone call (as yet), but it did not do any harm either.

That sort of substitution - where something smaller or simpler replaces something larger or more complicated, as in your case a brief phone call replaced a meeting - seems like a good illustration of 62.2. Doing only what is necessary, and not more than that. Not making a bigger fuss than you have to.

In this case, I wonder if hexagram 32 might have to do with saving time - the "duration" of the discussion? Do you happen to know if that is why the meeting was cancelled?

Initially when I got the reading, my first reaction was - stay small (do only what is necessary and nothing more) in the meeting. I thought the YI was trying to tell me to not cross a line. But when the meeting got cancelled and was replaced by a phone call it all made sense to me - the YI was telling me that something larger will get replaced with something smaller. Though I was mindful to only say what was necessary in the phone call as well.


The meeting was cancelled because the person called in sick, which I don't think was the truth

I have a thought about 32 in this context. There has been a certain trend in my life from the past several years, where pretty much anything which promises progress, is somehow sidetracked or it does not happen at all. So I think the meeting getting cancelled was a continuation of that trend. But I think this interpretation is a very personal one, so I am not sure how I can base it in a broader context.
