Should I go to the doctor?

37.1.3.5 > 23

*Edit*
I'm beginning to think this reading is telling me that I should stay home and take care of myself by following strict lifestyle rules, but that this will ultimately be futile in avoiding the ramifications of 23? Sounds pretty awful but more accurate than my musings below.

Just want to start by saying that I know nobody on a forum can give me medical advice. I will ultimately make my own decision but am just curious if anyone sees what I do here...

Though I seldom get sick, I typically do not go see a doctor. I prefer to stay home and sleep, drink tea, and eat good foods. In this case, I am likely not to go as I do not have health insurance and don't feel especially bad. Does Yi seem to be confirming my choice to stay home with Hex 37?

I've also been considering that maybe my living situation is contributing to my little health issue? Maybe it isn't the physical house, but my lack of job and spending so much time in the house is affecting my health? The imagery in 23 seems severe, but I was thinking that it might mean that I have to change my situation to get better.

So, on one hand 37 seems to be telling me to stay in the house, and 23 seems to be telling me to get out of the house. When I started reading I got the feeling that I should not go to the doctor but stay home, but my broader well being means I might need to get out of the home. Other possible reading... staying in the home is going to lead to scary Hex 23, so maybe I should go to the doctor. Or am I way off base here?

Sidenote, and probably unrelated-- I woke up with no voice yesterday and had to reschedule a phone interview for a job. Just seems in line with my need to get out but also being stuck.

23 isn't telling you to go out of the house, it actually says "it does not further one to go anywhere".
Whenever I see 37 in health problems, the family history of illnesses comes to mind.
Is there anything hereditary which runs in your family?
Line 37.3 says that it would be good to be strict with yourself/lifestyle/diet etc.

Although 23 says don't go anywhere, it is also quite an ominous hexagram.
If I were you I'd just go to the doctor to put my mind at rest.

Yikes. I'm not sure going to the doctor is a possibility right now without insurance. I guess I should see if I can somehow make it happen.

The more I read about it, the more this reading seems really scary. Makes me think that's why it isn't really getting any response :(

I had a lot of 23's, why do people fear it so much? Pretty good hex.
For me it's the release of old, flushing the waste so the new things can get in.

In your reading 37-23 all the lines say stay home, it's ok.
Yes it feels restricitve somehow but it's ok, illness will pass, some clearing up is happening.

Thanks, Tim! Your response about 23 is refreshing after all the sinister things I've read about it this week. I stayed up late last night reading and learning more about Yi and came to think along the same lines as you about this reading. I admit I was afraid I was being biased and avoiding what I did not what to see. Anyway, I decided to stay home rather than go to a doctor, and today I'm finally feeling much better.

My grandma checked out of the hospital after successful treatment (2 weeks) with line

23.4 → 35 (Progress), Legge:
Shows its subject having overthrown the couch, and (going to injure) the skin (of him who lies on it). There will be evil.

She did overcome the hospital bed indeed :)

On that day my question was: Will they let her go home today?
They did.
