One of my sons has had quite a bad school report.
I must say I am quite shocked at the pressure, that exists compared to when I was at school.

I have been trying to work with him at home but he´s still quite imature and doesn`t really understand that if he gets bad marks, he´ll go to a poor secondary school. He could be academic, he´s naturally good at math, but doesn`t participate in lessons.

I asked can I influence the situation much?
I got hexagram 56 lines 1 and 6
I am really sure about this one, I am on a journey with him, I can`t really help him, I am annoying and destroy something.Or is he the one who is difficult, what would the nest be?

Please give me an Idea of his result for next year.
I got hexagram 26 line 2 and 5
Line 2 Cart disconnected from the stokes? He has to keep improving himself and practising I think.
Line 5the buck tooth of a castrated Pig?He has a bad temper somtimes, but a good ending.
Thanks for any Ideas.

Hi Maisie, I would read this as he being the one who is courting disaster, well possibly you by trying to get him to do something he sees as meaningless, but all in all it's his responsibility.
However in reading two i think you will find it works out ok.

I have 3 sons, the oldest two embraced their schooling years whilst the youngest and cleverest was bored to distraction and had no interest in doing any study, assignments, whatever.
He left school at 16 which is about 2 years ago and for the first 12 months he worked in a supermarket and a lot of people told me I was wrong to allow this saying 'what is going to become of him leaving school early and working in a supermarket of all places'.
This same son. through his own initiation, has a contract working in construction which is for 3 years and he started 12 months ago, earning a very large amount of money. He now is looking to his future with confidence instead of unhappiness because him and school just didn't work.

There is a lot of talk on this forum about the significance of the 1st and 6th line changing in a reading with nothing else in between. I think the gist is that it's a quick progression through the meaning of the hexagram or a quick, self-contained development. I don't remember exactly :)

Either way, I think this one might be saying to tread carefully. It's his life and if you want to influence, you need to come at it with the understanding that he is the one ultimately in charge. It could also just be talking about navigating a situation where you feel out of your depth. Resulting hexagram 55 can often mean feeling overwhelmed, apparently.

You're the one who did the reading and you're asking about how you can influence him, so I think you should assume it talks about you and not him.

I think the first line is about always keeping the ultimate goal (your "destination") in mind and not being distracted by insignificant things. It can also mean not to demean yourself to get in with the in crowd, I think. It's generally a warning to take things seriously- not to joke around. How it relates to your question, I am not sure.

Line 6 talks about becoming conceited once you have gained ground. In line 5 the wandered establishes himself, having acted correctly. In line 6 he forgets that even though he has achieved much, he still does not belong 100%. He loses his ability to adapt and also his modesty and then suffers a loss.

It is said on these threads that when line one and six are moving, that means you are hoping for something, but that the action is over rather quickly. The first line precedes the action and the last line follows the action ... but there is no middle, no action.

With hexagram 26, lines 2 and 5 moving, line 2 indicates a serious hindrance: A broken axle. However, line 5 indicates good fortune and blessings. Maybe it is too early to speak much about next year.

Going back to 56.1.6, it would seem better if you did not try to influence him . . . It would be exhausting and frustrating for you.

It occurs to me too, that both readings are about your approach. The stranger of 56, imo, have to be more transparent to the situation. If its about your son, to keep his fire needs fuels - inspiration/intensives- and the arguments grown-ups offer don't make much sense in their "world" .

26.2.5>37 may suggest the that disinterest needs to be reversed , put the gears towards a more beneficial direction. Its my impression that most of the kids in that age - i assume he goes on primary school- don't really want to sacrifice they play time to work hard to go to a good school and in 30 y earn a PhD rather they might push themselves to go to that school has the best computer lab in the area or good basketball team or whatever they fancy .

Great replies thanks

Thanks you for all the great forsight.
I can see that problay it´s all down to him really.
Also I do feel a bit out of my depth smetimes with finding ways to get him to work.
So Tiger mum, is off the cards, not too much force is recommended.

Could line 2 of 26, be what happened last year the teachers have been changed because the class as a whole had a lot of problems, with the teaching staff.
Not being able to control them, ( I know it`s not only the teacher fault.)etc.One difficult disruptive child left school.
Line 5 perhaps things will get better anyway?

Thanks for your time everyone, I will reads through your thoughts agian in depth.
