I was talking with my brother today about the prospect of starting a business. Things are starting to get tough for him and his family. We talked about a window cleaning business and I mentioned how my District Manager from my last job mentioned that if I wanted to wash windows he would give me all the 22 stores in the Phoenix are. I asked the question: Would the idea of starting a window cleaning business be appropriate at this time? Answer: 57.5.6 > 46.

As I looked at this, my first instinct was that it was pretty good. I was looking at the answer from a linear viewpoint, that is 57.5.6 would turn into 46. But the more I looked I started to discern a different feel when I looked at the answer from the point of 46 being the background and 57.5.6 being the ultimate outcome. We are both in the same financial situation and we are looking to better ourselves (46), but even though the beginning may start out pretty good, in the end it all just may crap out.

Does anyone else have a different take on the situation? I will be scanning the threads for this hexagram combination.

Thank you :)

Like so many answers from Yi, this isn't a clear yes/no, go/no go. The fact that you received H57, Subtle Penetration, is an indication of a slow moving process, one which depends on time and subtlety to work. Like the wind affecting the landscape. You do not generally want to be in a business which operates at that sort of glacial pace. Sure, the glaciers eventually dominated their landscape, but they only moved 10 feet per year.

Line 5 appears to me to be a signal that the eventual shape of the business will be different from where you thought you were going. Line 6 is a reminder that there is not certainty, and that you can lose your chance to succeed by looking for certainty.

Hi

The begining of a business is always the hardest seriously, and always in business there are
unforseen things that seem to pop out from no-where
I believe its a good idea but you are missing something here the yi i think is saying do the CHECKLIST

For example what happens if the contarct falls over?
what happens if you or your brother lose interest?

You know what I mean, most business will fail in the first 12 months if they are going to.

I know what you mean buy line six to me thats a warning but others like tiger see it different
but i think that the yi is saying the idea is grand but really check it out.

Good Luck
Steve

I definitely hear what the both of you are saying. I used to have a window cleaning business in the past that didn't work out to well. This was something that my brother had brought up and I was kind of sketchy about the prevailing circumstances surrounding our situations. Steve, you hit the nail on the head concerning checklists and this is something that I was bringing up with my brother. While my brother was a businessman at just a few years ago, he knows the game, too. I am very, VERY thorough when it come to dotting my I's and crossing my T's, almost to the point where I am mistaken as being negative. That certainly is not the case. If I walk through a door of opportunity, I want three doors afforded to walk back out.

Tiger, so true about this not being a hard yes/no answer. As I mentioned in my previous post, I initially had a somewhat good feeling about it, but after double backing and chewing on the answer just a bit from a different angle I wasn't so comfortable about my previous take. I thank you for sharing a point of the nature of the hexagram: extremely slow characteristic. Considering this in light of both our circumstances, time is not an option.

What we are pretty much looking for is a straight shot, uncomplicated money maker. By the sounds of this, it will become more of a hassle by too much change and getting bogged down.

Thank you both for your input. You pretty much summed up my feelings after a couple days thought on the subject.
