Starting PhD- do I have what it takes? 61.5 to 41

Hello to all,
I am about to start a PhD at a legendary university where the competition and standards are cutthroat. I want to be confident but am feeling nervous, so asked the Yi if I really have what it takes to succeed at this. Pulled 61.5 to 41. The line reading in 61 feels encouraging:

"Nine in the fifth place means:
He possesses truth, which links together.
No blame.
This describes the ruler who holds all elements together by the power of his personality. Only when the strength of his character is so ample that he can influence all who are subject to him, is he as he needs to be.
The power of suggestion must emanate from the ruler. It will firmly knit together and unite all his adherents. Without this central force, all external unity is only deception and breaks down at the decisive moment."

This seems to suggest I will garner the necessary support through my research efforts. But decrease bothers me a little. What gets decreased here? Any ideas on this reading would be most appreciated: I'm moving to the university in two days, and it's a big , daunting jump in my life!

oh don't worry about the decrease

41 is the background to the question....perhaps sacrifices have been made, what is not needed has been let go of in order that good things can enter. But anyway with only one changing line the meaning of that is paramount in the answer IMO

61.5 is good IMO. Most especially for me it indicates those who serve me well by truly promoting my growth with their expertise....and hopefully I may be instrumental in theirs too

For example i recall this line asking about an osteopath who has helped me a great deal...It often shows up for me around a very fortunate connection where people are connected in working together or serving each other in some way.


so yes theres a real connection between you and the place...not superficial, growth can be acheived and deep influence

Yeah, what Trojan said. As you get into this program many things now considered important will fall away as all effort goes toward the studies. That's the story of 41. You can't have it all...

Of 61.5 -- It's important to realize that the rules are different at the PhD level -- you are much closer to an equal, and may indeed be more knowledgeable & experienced than your instructors in some areas. The old axiom that teaching and learning are inseparably related becomes very apparent -- the distinction may indeed fall away. By holding to what you know yet remaining open to new experiences, you may move the entire school in a different (and hopefully better) direction.
