Will Ayahuasca perhaps be helpful to me?

Yes, a source of fulfillment if I'm receptive and devoted
to the creative power of the plant - give all things form...
be yielding and receptive, and do try to lead.
make no plans, use no techniques.
Then Sublime Success.

line 2: If nothing is done, and no effort spent, everything will go well.
no need to rehearse, make no plans, have no expectations then u'll be OK.

line 3: If done devoted to a higher cause. Not all ends are visible. be without pretenses. practice self restraint and not credit (or discredit?) myself for what happens or is happening.

line 4: Isolate yourself and go inward. Stay there. Really must shut out the external world. And be absolutely inaccessible. Hide in the dark.

line 6: don't try to lead the situation, be ever receptive to the power. This line is scary. It means real serious injury is possible, If I am not 100% receptive and yielding.

Would you say I'm interpreting this correctly?

It looks pretty good to me. But I'm not sure of your reading on line 4.
You didn't say if you were going in through one of the legal Brasilian
churches like Santo Daime or the UDV. If that's the case, I would follow
their rituals and pay attention to what's going on outside of your bag.
They are both well equipped to guide you.
it's a really fine experience for examining your life's path and making
corrections, but it can be challenging work.
I see Gua 50's main theme as Alchemy and the preparation of this tea
is the highest alchemy I know. It even comes out gold.

Hi, Bradford,
I am wondering, what is your take on the sixth line?
I can follow all the other things cyclo wrote, but I do have a feeling that his take on 2,6 probably needs some refinement?
Just guessing here, but could be dosage be a problem...? 6 ist often "too much" of something...
I am psychonaut (with mushrooms only) myself...
Wondering if the two dragons could mean a "fight" beween the ego and the spirit of ayahuasca?
50 is a great gua to get for such an experience, as well as 2, on the other hand.

Hey Soshin
That's pretty perceptive. The Zhi Gua of 02.6 is Splitting Apart. Paradoxically, the higher the dose the less likely it is there will be a battle, as surrender becomes more of a given. As to danger, I doubt that anybody has ever been able to swallow a toxic dose. Too much can be pretty scary though, and the fear along with the awful taste can lead to long and unpleasant hours of vomiting. And if you're hiding from something, there really aren't many places left to hide after downing a decent sized cup. And who isn't hiding from something? In this context, 02.6 could refer to this tea being pretty good at self-selecting who will drink it a second time. Much fewer than half of the people who try it are eager to go again. In the church circles it's referred to as spiritual work, not happy fun time.
Had some thoughts 02.3 in tis context too, particularly in the silence that followed. There is a whole lot of exaggeration that goes along with reporting one's experiences here, in part because so few people get a chance to try it. It gets glamorized a lot, so instead of reporting that they spent the time working on some of their character defects, people report instead about turning into a jaguar or getting swallowed by an anaconda. It's really a lot better to neither believe nor perpetuate the exaggerations, but just stay in that 02.4 bag quietly and learn. The Zhi Gua for 02.3 is 15, which deals with the misunderstandings we have about Modesty in the process of developing a true Authenticity. This does not require silence, but most of the speaking is best done after the learning.

I wonder if age and life experience has any bearing in what one would experience in such a trip. I wish I had the opportunity to try ayahuasca (or DMT, for that matter) when I was much younger and then compare notes.

Most of the lifelong users I know tend to adopt a reincarnationist theory of spiritual evolution, therewith stretching out the whole age question to hundreds and thousands of lifetimes. Of course within that there is the notion of decades spent "getting back up to speed" within each incarnation. There are bona-fide medical and psychological studies being done in Brasil on younger people who take it. Research is one of the great benefits of legalization. They are finding things like better social adjustment and higher grades in school. I wish I could have started a lot younger - might have completely avoided that whole messy business with all those cigarettes and all that wine :duh:
