Describe the ground or scenery of this thread. Yi: 13.2.4 > 9

13.2: Union of people at the ancestral temple. Distress.
13.4: War-chariots against a rampart. Not able to attack. Auspicious.
Another interpretation is:
13.2 - bringing together the Images (daxiang) and the Zhouyi is not a good thing (distress). Regardless of the reason or setting, there are some things that should not be done, and do not work, even at the 'ancestral temple'.
13.3 - as much as we might try (push against the ramparts), we are not able to achieve our goal, and to realize this is a good thing. So, it's the recognition that these 'parts' - i.e. the Images+Trigrams, or the Images+Zhouyi - do not work together which is auspicious.
OR ...
13.3 Pushing or forcing the issue won't get us to our goal. It's only when we decide to not attack - or we realize that attacking won't get us anywhere - that we can then have a good, auspicious outcome, and achieve or goal.

And that might be a totally biased interpretation, but that doesn't mean that it's not correct. I'd say it means: for me what is the ground or scenery of this thread? What is the meaning I can take away from this? What works for me, and what doesn't?

Best, D

I really like this method of working with images. It reminds me a bit of when some authors have used the I Ching images to compose stories and decide on narrative sequences.
