I think Candid has a point. Let's stick as closely as may be to our common ground, namely the I Ching. There will be ample readings to interpret on the subject very soon!

Candid, my earlier efforts to apologise to you don't seem to have gone down too well. Let me try again. I'm the wrong age and the wrong nationality really to understand the full implications of the words I was using. No sweeping categorisations were intended. Sorry.

And personally I welcome the presence of alternative points of view, the more the merrier. I hope you'll bring some to our discussion of those readings I should be posting online later today. As I was saying, or trying to say, unscrutinized assumptions can make a massive difference to interpretation here. Best to stick fairly closely to interpreting, I agree.

Candid...

Thank you so much for your clarification. After reading all the posts and while answering the things that jumped out at me, that's the one statement that kept jumping, and I reread it a few times trying to understand the point.

It is certainly a likely scenario, and one that makes the thought of travelling around the world with an American passport rather scary.

Peace and out,

Val

Hi Hilary,

I?ve always treasured your opinions as balanced and thoughtful. I?ve never given much thought to your age or national origin. When you self-diminish your value for any reason, it puts me a bit on the defensive. (Uncles are like that, you know.)

Hi Val,

My statement was a bit out of the blue, and extreme. I do hope I?m wrong about it. Americans are already hated in so many places around the globe. Its disturbs me when our own people appear to want to tear it down. Anti-American Americans. There?s something wrong with that picture. Yet, that?s what I see so much of these days. Granted, its sometimes very understandable. The saying, ?I love my country but don?t trust my government,? comes to mind, and as much as I dislike being categorized, I must admit that I fall into that category. That?s why I ended that particular post with, may God help us all. Let me then expound on that just a tad. God help us all to realize the higher aims of mankind and to live our lives accordingly. The inferior works through power. The superior doesn?t act thusly. Let us not learn the hard way, but learn to listen and resolve our differences in peace.

Looking forward to exploring Yi?s answers with you all. While I didn?t participate in the toss, my answer would be a definate 34.

Namaste,
Candid
