I got an unusual reading, with three changing lines in the lower trigram. I have been having some dreams, something that doesn't seem to want to let go of my soul, it is beautiful and melancholy at the same time, beautiful in the dream, and melancholy that I wake from it, and I wonder what are they trying to tell me. The dreams are about a person.

Line 1 seems to say don't do anything, don't go out the gate; line 2 says to go out the gate, or at least don't wait too long. In a sense these contradict, although not if you interpret it as "don't act on these dreams now, but you will need to act at some point". Line 3 I think perhaps is cautioning me - could line 3 be talking about the past or the present? When it says that following pleasure will lead to misfortune I think in a sense this could be speaking of decisions I have made in my life which lead this to this present moment and these dreams with elements of my past that leave me with a sense of melancholy. Or it could also be speaking of the present - saying that I must know whether it is pleasure-seeking that is at the heart of these dreams?

I wonder what anyone thinks, or also if anyone has a suggestion of a clarifying question that may be asked in connection to this; for example [1] how will I know when to step outside the gate?, and [2] what constitutes the proper way of stepping outside the gate?
