Thinking of moving to another town: 48.1 > 5, 4.1 > 41

I've been jobless for a while and am in quite a lot of debt, and one solution would be to sell my flat and move to another part of the country where house prices and living costs are lower. The money from the sale would pay off the debt and allow me to study from home, which I started last year but couldn't continue because of money problems. I'm reluctant to move away from all my friends though, so I asked what I might expect if I stayed here, and what I might expect if I moved.

If I stay: 48.1 > 5

If I move: 4.1 > 41

My first instinct about 48 was that it might be saying that it doesn't much matter which I choose - what I need to do is work on reconnecting to my inner source. I was reminded of a time in my life when I was very unhappy and isolated, and when an offer of work in another country came up I jumped at the chance... and ended up even more miserable there than I was before. "Changing the city, not changing the well" as LiSe puts it.

On the other hand, if this is answering the question I asked then 48.1 suggests that this situation is no longer nourishing me (the well is muddy). Together with 5 it may be warning me that I can't just wait passively for things to improve - I will need to do something to renew my life here if I stay.

At first, I thought that 4 may be saying that I had already got the information I needed from my first reading. But it could also mean a leap into the unknown and a chance to learn from it. To me, 41 suggests letting go of the habits and associations I've built up here, and that in the end this will be beneficial. What I don't really get is line 4.1. A need to balance self-discipline and the freedom to learn from mistakes?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan
Yea thats a hard one I cant really be sure which way the Yi is leaning. 48.1 suggest things are stale but does also lead to 5 which could mean stay put then 4.1 is talking about repetiveness which is not good either this also leads to 41. If anything the Yi could be advising not to do anything rash.

Personally I would ask what do I need to know about the whole situation or should I sell my house.
Sorry I cant be more clear
Its a big move so you need to be comfortable about your decision

Thanks Steve,

It is definitely a big decision. I'm not really comfortable with the idea of moving but it's difficult to see a way forward if I stay. I've been putting off committing to one course or the other for a while now.

I think Yi is pointing out the different consequences of each option. If I stay, I will need to work to renew my life here (clean out the well or even dig a new one, to use the image of 48.1). I think 5 is about waiting with the right attitude rather than simply waiting. Being open to change, maybe? If I do that, perhaps the way forward will be revealed.

If I move I will have to let go of things - comfortable habits and friendships that I've built up here. But the sacrifice may be worth it in the end. That is how I'm reading 41 at the moment, anyway. It certainly fits with my feelings about moving and what I stand to lose from it.

I'll definitely follow your advice about asking more questions. Today I asked some questions about my options re: studying or finding work and got some useful answers. As the main problem I have is debt I guess the next question is what my best approach to paying it would be.

Thanks again,
Dan

I was thinking could this be a case of you can run but cant run from your self or the situation.

the economic climate is not the best in general its a case of the haves and have nots and the gap is getting bigger, people are looking at their finances in ways they never had to.

is the grass greener on the other side of the hill????

Hey Dan,
I think 48.1>5 says to keep doing what your doing is gonna be same old, same old story - what got you into this situation in the first place, who are these friends, what do they do in their life - is it a reflection of yours?

And 4.1>41 If you decide to move on, which won't be a bad thing, don't go making the same mistakes again cause otherwise this will lead to misfortune. Make a new start but be disciplined and consciously aware of what you are doing. Melissa

Thanks Melissa,

As you say, 48.1 > 5 is a clear indication that I can't let things continue the way they have been. And I don't really like to admit it, but my circle of friends is a bit unhealthy. Not in any kind of nasty way - we just seem to be bad influences on each other. Most of them like to drink a lot. I found that fun for a while as well, but not any more.

So 4.1 could be about self-discipline and not repeating old mistakes (but probably making some new ones :))? That makes sense, especially with my previous experience of making a big move but taking my old self with me. The 41 in that reading did encourage me because I think it is probably what I need right now - to let go of things that I don't need. The Image talks about controlling anger and restraining desire - perhaps what I need to do before I can commit to this decision.
