Hi Nykki,

glad to hear that things have worked out for you!
As for your question, I genuinely do not believe that you can ask the I ching / predict a question like that - how long a relationship lasts is IMO determined by the actions of the two partners and not by a built-in duration...
Still, there are things in your reading which I believe could be relevant: Hex 45 is one about drawing together, around a common purpose.So this could mean that your relationship is based on emotional / spiritual commonalities, which is good. It will require work to further forge this (To bring great offerings creates good fortune. It furthers one to undertake something.) Line 2 to me stresses the importance of honest intentions and being willing to go with the flow (Letting oneself be drawn brings good fortune and remains blameless. If one is sincere, It furthers one to bring even a small offering.) You do what you can. If its sincere, its enough. That also seems to be the tenor of line 5, with an additional warning to not do things for the wrong reason.
Hex 40 is deliverance and speaks of a return to normal ; blockages have been removed, the soul is freed, but now it is time to solidify that state - the southwest as far as I know stands for home - so could be reconnecting to yourself. Can it be that right now you are in a very agitated state, and not really able to react "normally" with regards to this issue? You may need to slow down bit and re-center yourself.
Again, I do not see a timeframe here at all -I don't believe there is a predetermined one. I see just advice on how to deal with your anxiety - relax, go with the flow, work on what you can, and don't worry about it not being enough. This is all you can do to make this a long lasting relationship.

Maui has given you some good pointers in the above thread. I'd like to add that 45 has alot to do with faith. faith in the relationships ongoing transformation possibly, and not to jump to conclusions whilst your still on the journey?

the two lines are the hosts which is interesting to note. Huang has it that the yin element at the second place is sincere and retiring, she needs help with getting together with line 5, because they 'are the perfect match'. Line five is Yang, the male, he is strong and 'willfull'. perhaps this is showing the age difference here. he is 'proud' and maybe he is portraying something which you dont quite believe? The text says theres 'no confidence in him'. Maybe this is describing you own state of mind. But line 5 is the 'perfect match' of line 2, all that needs to happen is a little offering and have a little faith in him, or yourself, or the trajectory of the relationship.

In line 2, 'the small offering' is something you must make to have confidence in the relationship maybe?

There's a certain amount of disbelief happening that might need to be offered up. Or maybe you need to have a talk with your partner to remove your tendency to have little faith in this relationship.

40 is about being released from mindsets that are just old thoughts that have nothing to do with whats actually going on. It works with the idea of an 'age difference'. This is societys old hat ideas interfering and its has ittle to do with how you both gel. Its a very liberating time in 40. oh my god Maui and Yxeli .... everything you 2 say in your replies make total sense ... to an extent that I sat here and felt like crying while realizing things ... and yes one big problem is that I am the one who thinks this can't work long term cos of the age difference ..and that his Muslim parents will never accept me con Muslim culture a woman older than the man is not acceptable ....everything in my head is if if if .. doubt .... both of you hit the situation right on the money ... and my feelings and fear right on ..... my god I am speechless ..and it moves things in me, makes me realize things... about the way I see the situation .. and about myself .. yes faith .. I do not seem capable of that but I need to learn it .. I know I need to or I will starve emotionally
