Dear friends, I have been reading the forums as a guest for years and today decided to join impromptu with a question that I would like to get the most objective perspective on.

My question was: Im having doubts about my intentions to release my songs on *** this year or the next, what should I do?
(The underlying intention behind this question, and the reason Im having doubts, is whether the songs would go completely unnoticed or if I would have some form of success as a result of releasing them. Like a good 1000 listens, as an example.)

The resulting hexagram was: 2, Land, with the changing line 5 leading to hexagram 8.
Problem is, hexagram two is following the first hexagram and the "element" of being a follower is throwing me off.
Releasing the songs demands action from my part and yet there is a certain passiveness present to hexagram 2. Line 5 is good, but speaks more of the internal aspects of a ruler.

Line 5:
Blofeld:
A yellow jacket -- sublime good fortune. [Yellow has always been an exalted color in China, where its use for garments was long restricted to the Imperial Family. Here it clearly symbolizes virtue.]

One thing I am absolute certain of; sitting back and letting things happen is a sure recipe for the songs never getting released.
What do you think is the advice here, really?

Hello;

in Hilary's translation 2.5 indicates a yellow undergarment- some valuable internal thing that brings supreme good fortune.

I take it as, if you consider your songs of good quality, seek help to release them. If you think they have room to improve, work on them without hurry, until they are "golden".

Good luck

This is a great opportunity to announce reading through The Occult I Ching by Maja D'Aoust, a new (2019!) translation published by Destiny Books and very worthwhile. This is because I sympathize with your question a great deal. About line 5 of Earth she writes, "Pursue the truth from all sides and view the situation impartially. Chaos need not destroy all the beautiful flowers you have planted in your garden." She translates hexagram 8 as "The Union"...."Here we learn the lesson that we all need somebody to lean on." Without quoting any further, I can tell you that she would want to know who already supports your songs. She would want you to peer into the ways your work is already valued. The space you occupy on this Earth, K'un, includes what you put into the music as well as where it goes from here. Reexamine the whole of this artistic endeavor. There may be more fulfilling options than posting the songs. You very well may post them, however the question to consider is if 20, 300, 1000 unknown listeners is really the end-all if there are more personal gains to develop based on the work as it is or how it may be refined from here. I agree the response is enigmatic, but encouraging. There is nothing better to do on this Earth than to spread the vibrations of sweet sweet music. The delivery mediums are what they are, all more fallible than making the songs themselves - and that's just my sense, as a good but unpublished musician.
