I've had the idea for a new project that involves sharing my art and content for quite some time but never really know if I'm ready to share. I feel deep down that I need to at some point. Been in a long rut with lots of hex 12s in my career. I asked What if I start this project? 41.1.2.6 > 2

Well, 41 in this case is very confusing to me. I can normally more or less extract advice from 41. Hex 2 seems to be about the creative energy not yet released. So 41? Does anyone have experience with these lines in a context like mine?

I've been weighing this against a sort of tangential project idea that I received 3.6 > 42 about.

Line 41.1 speaks of lots of activity back and forth, which takes advantage of someone's time (yours or others'). Line 41.2 says that to undertake something brings misfortune, so that doesn't sound great. 41.6 speaks of someone who finds some sort of employment, but as a servant. And 2 as resulting is not active either. All in all it doesn't sound great for starting something new. I'm wondering what your aim is. Do you want to start this project so that it brings you some financial profit? If so, then I'm afraid it doesn't sound great. If you're seeking recognition or fame, then again it doesn't super great.

This is one of the most painful casts I know.

If you feel so stuck in your career, perhaps ask something like "what can I do to get out of this career rut"?

hello, as you mention showing your art, maybe the I Ching is giving you some advice on how to proceed so that it gets its due reception (hexagram 2, the receptive, as opposed to what's already been created by you, more like hexagram 1 :))? in this context the lines leading to it could mean:

41.1 - going quickly when one's tasks are finished - from Carol Anthony's book - "the performer, on ending his performance, leaves the stage without further ado" this is about remaining detached and neutral in one's attitude - as in this way we avoid ego inflation (by, let's say, even temporarily feeling too proud of ourselves as then we might feel better than others - this automatically brings certain decrease - in our perception of them - to them) and thus remain focused on actually getting things done;

41.2 - this line is the other side of the coin, as it warns against decreasing oneself - and might even serve as a reminder that it is ok to get paid for the work that you have put in. in a way, it might be explaining that if you just pay attention to the previous line and go ahead - you might fail, or hit the wall again (the misfortune)... but if, instead, you find that middle ground between not feeling too proud yet not feeling worthless - you can make a great impression and find just the right audience?

41.6 if one is increased without depriving other - this line kind of marries the two previous ones and explains how in modesty and sincerity (walking in the middle) one can win over the necessary help to have some lasting influence on the public sphere. i think in this case Wilhelm says it all:

There is no blame.
Perseverance brings good fortune.
It furthers one to undertake something.
One obtains servants
But no longer has a separate home.

There are people who dispense blessings to the whole world. Every increase in power that comes to them benefits the whole of mankind and therefore does not bring decrease to others. Through perseverance and zealous work a man wins success and finds helpers as they are needed. But what he accomplishes is not a limited private advantage; it is a public good and available to everyone.

i believe this could be a very reassuring reading with some hints at how to proceed with your project to finally get your art some views (the receptive). and the judgement of hexagram 2 is as encouraging, with: THE RECEPTIVE brings about sublime success and Quiet perseverance brings good fortune.

i remember getting 41.6 in relation to being creative quite a lot, it was a while ago though, but i think of this line in relation to exposing art in particular actually. love the idea of disposing blessings on the whole world - i do think that's what art is... wishing you all the best with all that perseverance and success ahead!
