Hello everybody

Recently I get very excited about a course 'Creative Therapy'. I always regretted not getting my bachelors degree and for a long time I have been quite lost about which way I should take in my professional life.

I have been doing sales as well as secretary jobs the last 7 years but every time it seems like I hit a brick wall in every professional endeavor I undertake.
I became very unhappy in a sales oriented job after a few years so I turned my back on that and went for something in the public sector but in a much more administrative function. This was a temp job which I did for almost 2 years, it ended in february this year. It was a good experience, but my greatest insight on that job was that I would probably go crazy of I would be doing paperwork all day for the rest of my life.

For the moment I am trying to listen to my inner voice and not so much to the voice of my survival instinct which is shouting 'pay your bills get a job, any job, you just can't sit around all day waiting for life to happen to you!):footinmouth:
But for once I am trying to ignore that very rational voice, because that voice is responsible for where I stand today. Witch feels like absolutely nowhere :brickwall:

So, this course really appeals to me. A dear friend of mine told me about this course, she is a psychiatric nurse and a colleague of hers is a creative therapist. She thought this course would be perfect for me, and I got very excited indeed when she told me about it. I started making inquiries about the course, I would need a bachelors degree to get in, there is no way around that. It would be a very long road, I would be looking at at least 5 years of studying and in the mean time I'd have to pay the bills. I live together so maybe we could make it, but I would have to be very sure that is what I want. This is not a decision to be taken lightly.

I tried to keep my question to the Yi as open yet as focused as possible but i am not sure if I asked the right one. Anyway I asked
'What can I do to increase my chances for getting accepted into course?'
Hex 6.2.4 -> 20

I think that maybe it says that I cannot get accepted to the course (no bachelors degree) but looking further into this direction will make me see a bigger picture, possibly different possibilities, not necessarily this course even but maybe something else that would fit me?

I will be dwelling on this reading for a while, meanwhile I would very much appreciate other peoples insights / wisdom on this matter

:bows:

Hi dancingfox,
I think that your reading is basically addressing your conflict about this course and your career as a whole. You know already what you have to do to be accepted in the course, as you say in your post, get a degree, invest quite a few years and all the rest of it. So that is not really the question, is it?
So, I see the two lines, 2 and 4, advising you to drop the conflict. Don't take this course as "salvation" from this boring office routine, drop the idea that it is now or never ! :D Relating hex 20 suggesting a bit more of thinking/meditating on the subject.
So, I think it is more a calm down message ;) , it seems to me that it is not saying, yes go ahead, do whatever it takes to get into this course! :bows:

It's hard to admit it but you are probably right. It's not easy because part of me longs for 'salvation' I guess. I have been dreaming of a meaningful occupation for so long, I have gotten so frustrated with the way my career has been going. In the past I was forced to make practical choices because I had to 'survive'. Now that I can leave the survival mode behind I find it a challenge to find the right direction for myself. It occupies me a great deal these days. To me, the key for my happiness is to find something meaningful to do with my talents, reaching out to other people... It's hard to let go and just relax when you don't have a job but my instinct tells me that is exactly what I have to do right now, to meditate, let go and try to relax. easier said then done ;-)

Just an update about this post, I got accepted into the course and will commence my study in september this year :)
I was so nervous about the intake interview, half way my the interview the coach took pity on me and told me I was accepted. I've had some time since then to let it all sink in, I am so glad I had the courage to take this leap of faith, because with each passing day I feel more sure of myself and this decision.
