What caused cat's death? Hexagram 30.4>22

Hi everyone. Recently one of the outdoor/feral cats that I feed suddenly died - he didn't show up for a few meals and after I looked around a bit, I found him laying in one of his usual resting spots, already dead. It didn't seem like a predator got to him, as his body was just laying there intact as though he were just resting. He was an older cat, but it was still a bit of a shock since my family had been feeding him for many years and he basically lived on the lawn in front of the house and never missed a meal, so was kind of like a pet.

It's not really urgent that I know, but I wondered why/how he died so I cast for that question and got hexagram 30.4>22. My immediate thought from that was that it was probably something that happened suddenly - I've gotten that line before for things that happen suddenly but are also over relatively suddenly. That also would make sense of him looking like he was doing his normal routine, resting in his usual shady spot, but then dying there.

I was also struck by the line text literally mentioning dying:
"Sudden, it comes
Burns,
Dies,
Thrown out."

Which made me feel like it was at least addressing my question. But in addition to the sudden part, I wondered about the "burns" reference in terms of a possible cause of death. I had worried about the heat outside since it's the height of summer and he was an older cat, but it's also not been quite as hot here as some places recently. I guess I don't know what possible internal conditions that could refer to - I looked up causes of sudden death in cats online and apparently there are a lot of possible reasons that can happen.

I guess additionally in a more abstract way the text could almost sound like a description of how our lives are in existence for a relatively quick span of time, but I feel like that's less of what the answer meant.

I really don't know what the relating hexagram of 22 is speaking to.

I would welcome any other ideas you all might have around this.

So sorry for your loss!
In this situation I agree with your idea that 30.4 is referencing how we have a short life span and as it then changes to 22. Grace it seems to me to be describing the passing being peaceful and appropriate - like the cat had lived his life and it was time to go.
Heat related and the possibility of a heart attack or something sudden also might be a possibility for the actual physical cause but still I think these hexagrams are saying it was simply time…

I’ve asked how’s my pet doing and got this line . Last vet visit he had minor heart and liver enlargement, but nothing serious to put on meds. Booking vet appt now

So sorry to hear about this. But how good of you to care for him as you did. He had a place he belonged and that is important.

I agree the reading probably means it was something sudden, or as Rosada says it was just time. It's probably not possible for Yi to explain exactly what happened since it doesn't have medical terms to use. So this is probably the most helpful information it can get across. I figure it implies he didn't suffer, which is very nice to know.

Hi, in a certain sense I've received that line several times and naturally it changes depending on the question. in my experience I can tell you that your cat had a severe fever infection that led to cardiac arrest. I received that line for my father. what I can add is that it is evident between the lines that the already pure soul did not suffer. Love
