Hello everyone :)

I would like some help about a situation with a dear friend of mind. The long long story made short, is that this friend used to be my girlfriend a year ago. As a "couple" we were like bread and butter. Close, intimate and perfect --as a basis, extremely close as friends. However, the breakup was a mess, it did happen on good terms with a strong friendship that survived the aftermath of our break, but due to unforseen external circumstances that arrived out of the blue, it made our friendship heavy, also due to long distance. And simply because bad things just arrived infront of my feet, a string of bad luck. After a year or so, we finally met up. Been seeing each-other for 2 months. And as predicted, we get along like old times and moved on very well. The love is still there (thank god). So the friendship has succesfully reklindled.

However, during one of our intimate discussions about each other. Something came up which I was surprised and curious to find. As an individual, one of the many qualities she possess that deeply inspires and motivates me, is that she is challenging, challenging to the sense of that there is alot of exchange, verbally, mentally, creatively, emotionally (in the positive sense) which creates that spark of attraction which I so much adore about her still to this day. However, she told me, that I wasn't challenging for her --in the sense of, I was too understanding towards her, not the same feeling of challenge that I have towards he --. Inevitably I wondered what it could be?! My reply to that was basically that she didn't give me enough time or patience to discover, which, in the larger context of our discussion she concurred to with a little bit of shame and regret.

So I consulted Iching for help

What kind of challenge would X wish from me?

42.2.5 41

So far, this is what I could make of it.

42. Increase of, dependence, passion maybe, flow of "love" towards me
.2 A shared compassion, friendship, "union" of some sorts?!
.5 (confused with this one) " A kind heart is Needed " I suppose this could mean the "idea" and "feeling" of being dependent on or of someone.

41 Decrease.... no idea what this could mean. Decrease of dependence? Or independence? :eek:uch:

To my feeling, and from what I already understand about Iching, these numbers might mean something about dependence, towards me, that sense of fire or attraction. Can't describe exactly what. Just a vague feeling.

I look forward to your feedback/questions and help. Thank you. :bows: :hugs:

Hi dive00,

With your lines, I would say that instead of looking up to her you should expand yourself. Get involved, put your heart into whatever you do, do things for others, let your kindness show not only for her but for other people. I don't think that you have to change towards her, my view on your reading is that it is about your attitude in life, in relation to others, and the whole environment around you.

Hope that helps :bows:

Hmmm... would this be iching advising me not to think or ask such a question about this subject matter? My idea was never to "change" towards her. But more out of curiosity of how we could relate to each other in the future. For example, if or for what ever reason I behave "naturally" in some way that would make X think: "he, that's what I was looking for, or, that's what I forgot about you". And yes, my behavior towards her is genuinely same extension of kindness as to many other people. Hmm... still have to think about this one. As for the lines, what could they mean themselfs?

Eh ? and yes of course the I Ching can and will refer you back to yourself. The question is convoluted since it seems about managing her impression of you to make yourself seem more challenging.

Geez why would anyone bother trying to be more challenging in order to manage someone else's feeling about them  Either there is love or there isn't but I can't see why anyone would need to get more challenging to please someone else....

So fundamentally this answer reassures you do not need to do these silly contortions, you are quite good enough just as you are...see 42.5.

Get a book and then say what you think the lines mean. Meantime this Blog post might help.

I don't think you need to be trying to work out what challenge would please her and that's what the answer is telling you.

Thank you for your concern Trojina :) But in the very end, of an extremely long story, it has of no concern to impress for any vain reason. I was only curious on the dynamics of our relationship since we hadn't spoken to each other for such a long time. No more than catching up, and enlightening myself and educating myself on unseen relational dynamics. I was only curious to know how and what the lines represent within the nucleus of the situation (despite still scratching my head after reviewing so much iching material -i remain a n00b for that matter, hence my vague explanation and understanding of the lines in the first post).
