My question:

I am currently unemployed right now , looking for work.

What job will I have for my next employment? Hex 5 unchanging

either I am going to be waiting tables- (Yii can be funny) or just plain waiting
I did also hand in a few resumes at a couple of resturants

What kind of work will I be doing at my next job? Hex 3 unchanging
Again taking orders and returning? or just difficult to say right now?

How soon will I find a job? Hex 37 unchanging
(interesting how I am getting the unchangings today?
??? Not sure on the time frame or maybe saying something else?

Thanks for your thoughts

They also serve who only stand and wait" -- Milton.

A front office position like receptionist, guard, hostess -- someone who controls and directs the flow of traffic.

Work that is difficult in the beginning until you get up to speed and a job in which you will have or may need helpers.

Hello White Owl

You might have already considered this angle on things and discarded it, and if so then please just discard this message too.

All the hexagrams being unchanging is interesting, and in my opinion it's worthy of some focus in its own right. If it's definitely the case that you got all three hexagrams with no changing lines at all, then that's worth thinking about why the Yi has repeatedly responded to you like that, and to use it when you're interpreting the text.

One of the ways to look at it is as Hilary describes in her teaching materials and in her book, which is that the Yi is turning it round and asking you questions to stimulate you/your life.

So when the Yi gives you hexagram 5, for instance, you could interpret that in a concrete way as describing a job. And/or you could see it as Yi asking you a question, or questions, as a way to get you to focus on something.

Hexagram 5 is about what you're doing while you're waiting for something to shift. It's about how you're waiting, how you're aligned or not aligned with what you're hoping will happen. So you're asking the Yi:

"What job will I have for my next employment?"

and the Yi could be answering...

"Well, what are you doing while you're waiting?"

Perhaps it's as simple as whatever you're currently preparing for can often be what's most likely to lead to getting a particular job. Or perhaps it's more complex than that. Only you can know.

It could also be asking you...

"What are you waiting for?" (perhaps even in both senses of the question).

I think it's safe to say that even if it's describing your potential next job, it's also at the same time as that drawing attention to the quality of your waiting.

I'm a bit puzzled about your second question because it seems to be exactly the same as the first one, however I think your interpretation of hexagram 3 in this context is logical: "just difficult to say right now", i.e. it's a very early sprouting phase, so there's nothing defined yet, it's more a matter of you preparing yourself/your life in some way.

With your third question I think you could take the same approach as with the first two hexagrams. If you're certain that the hexagram you got was in fact unchanging then it could be productive to see it as asking you questions, such as this one from Hilary's book:

"What kinds of growth does this environment support?"

Personally, I think that approach to the answer gives information that fits with hexagrams 5, and 3, in that they're all talking about investing in your own growth, in how you're dealing with/handling the waiting and preparing period you're in, and finding/arranging the right conditions and the quality of the space you're in.

Nebu- Thank you

Suprised myself that I got three hex's in a row unchanging. One reason why I started this thread because yes it is defo worthy of more attention here. I feel like I am being told more than one meaning. I did say employment, for what I will be doing for $$. While I am waiting, I am doing my normal everyday things, being a Mom, looking for work, exercise, internet, etc. average things. My quality of waitng has been healthy because I have been able to take care of my family better, & myself, but it cant last. I do need to find ajob because unemployment doesnt last forever. When I drew Hex 3 it kind of reminded me of a table or someone being in the center in which I approach in the beginning to help people get started & than return again. I gotta say you have got me thinking about a deeper synchronicity in all of this & I will check out Hillary's book...

This statement is very true to my situation. I know that this waiting has been helping me change & grow into a healthier person & I have been able to help others too..
I have even overcome a serious illness during this waiting that came out of left field.

What KIND of work was the the question, and I am thinking that the word "kind" had a lot to with how the Yi responded (with the unchanging hexagrams).

What do you think?

A job in which you will serve (wait on) others (service/customer service industry-related job).

How soon will I find a job? Hex 37 unchanging

"A Women's persistence furthers." The amount of time depends on how persistent you are in finding your work family.

Hi,
Hexagram 5 and 3 seem to mean something quite similar - that you will encounter some difficulty at the beginning, but that you should persevere. They do not appear to denote a specific job - I think the I Ching are not really geared toward answering this type of question - you'll probably find out for yourself in due course what's available and what appeals to you. Overall this seems a positive reading but at the same times it invites not to hasten. I feel the message also invites you not only to persevere, but also to give some thoughts on what you really wish to do.
