I've come to a point in my life where I don't know where I'm going and why I should keep on going. Life seems so confusing and pointless. With these thoughts in my head, I decided to ask the I Ching for insight.
I asked "What Now?" It seemed the most general, direct and honest formulation for my current preoccupations.

As a response I got hexagram 53 with lines 1,4 and 6 changing into hexagram 49. My initial interpretation was ones of gradual progress changing into revolution. It seems like a very odd response at first glance. Gradual progress? Towards what? Revolution? Oh please! My life is basically going nowhere and the oracle says its changing. It seems hard to accept I must admit.

So I turn to this forum for help/advice for better understanding the oracle's response to my query.

its hard to accept and pretty frustrating to yearn for a change (49) but instead you find yourself in a "flat branch" Maybe under the skin changes take place for be ready to take off (53.6) ?

Don't ask me how much time needed not to be :hissy: when line 53.4 came in my reading.

Oh I know this feeling and it's a damn nuisance, it's like we're ready for something more but the universe says not yet and we think WTH!
Basically this reading (to me) says yes there is progression even if you're not seeing it and the time for the radical change you're seeking will come.
From my experience the best thing you can do is go into a place of acceptance. - Liss

I cast 20.3 - 53 for a friend as an open cast. I heard later he was contemplating retirement from church work, which he did. But he stayed in touch to help out ocasionally , and that gradually expanded into more active involvment, so it became a kind of semi-retirement. A balanced indecisiveness ?. Ties in with 53, gradual movement in an unchanging direction, fidelity to the end.

49 Can be reform and inner struggle as much as outer, confidence at last after some reform is effected.

According to I Ching's rule, when there are 3 changing lines, we should consider the hex codes of the two hexagrams. Hex code of Hex 53 says "it is good time for a girl to marry a man", the hex code of Hex 49 is "If the time is ripe for revolution, just do it." Three changing lines mean that the two situations of the two hex are facing a close race at the moment, it is difficult for you to choose "a good marriage" or "a revolution".
In this case, you need to think over your situation and then make a better choice.
