X is a mental health institute. I am looking for a place for internship for my second year as a bachelor student orthopedagogy. In orthopedagogy there is wide variety of work-fields to specialize in, but I have always felt the most attracted to psychiatry. At first I wanted to save this field for the third and final year of my studies, because that's the field I would like to work in after graduation. Also most of these institutions don't accept first or second years students because it is not an easy field to work in, you have to be strong as well on a mental as on an emotional level.

However a fellow student in my class who has previous experience in the field is finishing an internship in the psychiatric field and she recommended me spontaneously at the mental health institute where she's an intern.

I have an appointment there today, and I wonder how I would fare as an intern in this institute. So my question is:
What to expect from possible internship at X.
I got hex 6 (conflict)
line 4 (a change of attitude helps to accept your faith and find inner peace)
changing to 59 (dispersion)

I think this an interesting reading because in my current and past internship there has been a lot of conflict. I had a rough time adjusting to my new life as a student and an intern, since I had a couple of years of professional experience in a very different field before I decided to change my career-path. I had to let go of my tendency towards perfectionism and accept that in this new field the process is more important then the results. I feel that I am (finally) in the process of learning to let go of my fixation with results and the need to be confirmed and accepted by the teams I am working with. As an intern I have to learn to deal with criticism on my behalf, and even though I can accept the feedback which is sometimes very confronting I have had difficulty with processing the criticism on a personal, more emotional level.

So I think this reading portrays the process of me learning to let go of (disperse) my inner conflict and in accepting my fate (to be an intern and accepting both positive and negative feedback ^_^). Since my question focused on an internship at the mental health institute maybe I will be able to complete that process at institute X?

What do you guys think?

As you say you may have personal conflict with something within your internship training but stick to your truth, don't let others sway you. Which to me essentially means, if you've got to do it 'their' way to get through your internship it doesn't mean that you have to do it 'their' way once you've passed,(dispersed with the training). - Liss

Hi Liss

At my first internship I did have a problem with 'their' way. It was an old fashioned institution and I am a free-thinker. At my current internship the coordinator is giving me a hard time even though I had a positive evaluation just last week. But I think she is giving me a hard time because she wants me to learn and gain insight. She is very straightforward, no frills. I kind of appreciate that, at least I know where I stand with her.

I got the internship at the mental health institute by the way. I didn't know what to think after the interview. The interview was conducted by a psychologist. They never show the back of their tongue, so I had no idea if I had made a good impression or not. The next day they called me to inform me that I had the internship. My fellow student who is an intern there explained to me that they probably made the interview difficult on purpose, to see how I would react in a challenging situation. I still think that's strange, but I accepted the offer. I am looking forward to next schoolyear :)

Update:

All in all my internship at the psychiatric nursing home was a wonderful experience. It certainly is a suitable field for me, I was able to truly connect with my clients and made a lot of progress professionally.

I started my internship with a family tragedy in the backdrop. Because of this I was extremely tense at the beginning of my internship. The first months where difficult for me which reflected in a reserved attitude towards the team. After a few months I was able to partially bridge the gap between me and the team. They recognized my talent and dedication for my clients but never really accepted me as part of the group. I was able to find peace in this by reminding myself that this internship was only temporary and that I was at least recognized for my qualities.

that is indeed an example of a line I would have read as turn back from the idea.
That would be my take, too, undoubtedly.

After reading this thread I consulted Bradford's book. His translation:

"Not capable of contending
Returning to take up a higher purpose
Withdrawing to secure the certain
Promising

06.4x Returning to take up a higher purpose
Withdrawing to secure the certain:
This is not failure"

While I used to think the line advised the querent to completely return from idea, now I see it invites to retreat from fighting, finding a secure place & focusing on what's really important.
