What's Blocking Me? 5

Greetings,

I haven' t posted in a while and have been struggling with various things in my life, most of them internal decisions that I feel I must make. Many of these are regarding major changes in career direction, relationship and pursuing creative projects ( you know, all the small stuff ). At any rate I posted this question to the Yi last October " Whats blocking me from being true to my inner self?" and received 5.5>11. I interpreted this as needing to be patient, nourish myself and to do what is needed in front of me.
Meanwhile, I have been going through a recurring feeling of restlessness and discontent with my life since then. Not much has changed on the outside, but I am feeling a strong urge to make major changes but I feel stuck, lost and afraid. I asked the Yi again last month " What is my greatest block now?" and received 5.2.3>3.
I am somewhat confused and wonder if its how I framed the question. Is waiting for something to happen my block and that I need to take action? Or is the Yi telling me to be patient, nourish myself and a clearer path will appear?
I would be grateful of any advice regarding this. I feel that I am in the same place as last year. I feel that I've consulted the Yi so much lately that I am confusing myself and not trusting the process of patience. Thank you all in advance. I am still trying to learn how and when to consult the Yi and when to let it go.

I can relate to the situation you find yourself in at this time of your life. And your last reading fits like a glove! Indeed you are "struggling to attain form", as Wilhelm says about hex 3. What you are going through, this re-definition of yourself and your life, is literally like a new birth and as such "beset with difficulties". Your agitation (5.2) however is preventing you from advancing, pushing you to make moves which are premature (5.3). This casting suggests calmness and caution to avoid the risk of making mistakes. I Think Cris has got alot of it right, but when i read the EIC i found it interesting that waiting became 'calculated', that it might be that Your not happy with the paths available to you, that you wish to wait for something better?

05 Calculated Waiting, Serving
In a context of perseverance we utilise control.
In hexagram 05 when danger exists (one's 'moment' has not yet come) one needs to keep one's balance by bidding one's time and let external events follow their course; serving and cultivating as we wait.

from EIC it also pairs Hex 5 with 3

How does this hexagram become more entangled with something/someone? Hexagram 3

I would take this as saying that you must choose one way, you must become more 'entangled'. that maybe your not looking at the 'obvious' ? It seems to me that this is saying that there is a path there, but your possibly denying it, or maybe just blind to it?

03 Sprouting
In a context of enlightenment, a new beginning, we utilise control.

Trigrams : enlightenment (bottom), control (top) : with/from enlightenment comes control. [water over thunder]

The mud from which 03 has emerged is best described by analogy to the under-stated qualities of hexagram 20, admiring (passive motivation - setting an example, being an example). There is a sense here of a new bud emerging and turning itself to face the source of its nourishment - the sun - and so an attractive source that aids in, that motivates, development (as covered in hexagram 20).

A situation covering analogy to a bud breaking through the surface (the enlightening) and turning to its source of nourishment (the 'Sun') and so controlling.

Hexagram 3 seems to me to be saying to follow the sunlight. What feels right and what doesnt? what 'jumps off the page' at you? What makes you smile? The way is there. Maybe your just overthinking things that you cant see it?

My Blocks

Thank you both cris and yxeli so much for your replies and insights. It all makes sense. I definitely think about things to much and want to make the "right" choice. Its been hard to let go of the need to make a choice and to allow myself to participate in my life as it is happening now, knowing that a clear choice will present itself in time. My astrological signs are transiting through just this type of energy and the sense of urgency I am feeling at almost 43 yrs old is loud. A lot of "stuff" from my past is surfacing and its unclear which if these things I must let go of and which to embrace. I will try my best to relax through it and take part in the things that bring me joy in the meantime.

I see that line 2 is reflecting unrest ( which you did mention ) and line 3 is in my eyes really reflecting the feeling of going no-where, and again you mention this also
but the question was What is blocking me and I agree that hexagram 3 is advisng on some sought of fresh start perhaps you need to have a postive think so as you feel you are on your correct path. I believe there are many correct paths and many of us are not on our correct paths there a millions of people that wake up one day and say how did I get here. It appears that that only the lucky ones are in jobs & postions in life that they trully love. how did they get there?
In your case maybe its time for fresh thinking new approaches new ideas. You are saying that you are getting strong urges to change. This reading i think is particulary accurate in where your situation is. It appears you know what you need to do but there are doubts. The yi to me appears to be telling you that its all good there is no reason you cant make positive changes.
You could look at this an exciting time in your life when things are changing to a more postive light. Before anything is put into action you need a plan and thats where I think you are right now.
I would give serious thought to any positive ideas or plans that appear. It does seem there is no actual plan however positive energy has started. It just about to rain but hasnt actually started.
Its also interesting how you have recieve 5 twice on this issue.

Hi Chris,
Hexagram 5 two times...
I hate to get 5 or 3 or 32 when I want to run in life. But they are telling me to wait and protect my energy (3) to be more strong and firm and mature. Line three in hex 5 I always try to listening its advice because I have experienced failure and bad people (or bad attitudes from others) when
i didn´t follow the advice.

Response from Yi to help me through, 51.3.6>30

Thanks again for all of your thoughtful insight. I would like to add that in response to my second reading I asked the Yi what would help me through this block and it responded with 51.3.6>30. I gather that this "shock" of thunder implies action at some point, which will lead to clarity (I hope). SI here I have waiting, patience, preparation, options, with the indication to act in some way. Does it have to necessarily be shocking? There are times when I do feel the need to do something completely different. As if its my last chance in life to really take a risk at a new way of living. What I do know is that I make the best decisions when I am grounded in the present, so I will try to stay in touch with it as much as I can now and see what happens. Thanks again for all your time in responding to me.
