Hello forum members,

Sometimes, I have an outburst of sadness for no apparent reason. My heart and soul start aching so much that sometimes tears cloud my eyes.

Otherwise I feel "normal" and have a satisfying life. I have a job, I practice a sport 3 evenings a week and I often go out with friends having fun. I'm single but I have my heart set on someone (something in progress).

I don't understand this occasional distraught and pain.
I asked : Why do I feel so bad? 49.4.6 > 37

I'm guessing that some changes are going in me from hex 49 but I can't see how the lines and the relating hex are fitting in my situation.

Thanks in advance for your insights :)

sounds like spiritual growing pains. One way to deal with such aching is to not judge it, observe it, observe where you feel it in your body etc. and then imagine the pain as a cloud in the sky you are watching and let it pass you by without trying to hurry it along, because you cant, its a cloud in the sky...

A psychotherapist once told me that. Also whenever something good happens press your thumb into your opposite wrist (or anywhere else). Do that repeatedly when anything that makes you feel great happens and then when you are really down press in that same spot and your body responds with 'good' feelings that have been 'programmed' in that spot (almost like pavlovian response).

Those might be interesting for you. anyway...

I'm guessing that some changes are going in me from hex 49 but I can't see how the lines and the relating hex are fitting in my situation.

yes, could the 37 be literal like your actual family? Or whatever group for you at the moment is operating like a family for you. Or maybe its just a process of making your emotional 'home' ready and an open space for this new person.

Line 6 tells how the noble one changes like a leopard, it sounds like what is happening to you, the changes are coming from deep within you, the advice of this line and 37 is constancy. This stage of changes (feelings of sadness and aching) will pass so all you need to do is remain constant, keep doing what you are doing.

37 for me has a stability and grounding to it. If I didnt have my home to come home to (;)) I think I'd be in pieces.

I remember once I watched 5 seasons of QI back to back in one day and by the end of it I had a full blown panic attack. A couple of days afterwards I realised that steven fry had seriously hit on some of most deepest feelings of frustration/anger towards my father, specifically because fry so often talks down about anyone who has interest in astrology. Here was one of my intellectual icons looking down on what brings me joy. An exact parallel to my personal issues. Anyway point is that after the panic attack (melt down) I felt so much freer. It got in somewhere deep and helped me move pass it. From then on whenever I get really down for reasons I cannot immediately see I always think oh i'm just going through a transformation of some sort, it wont last long and I'll be more of myself afterwards (even with repeating episodes). :)

I think of the woman in 37, how everyday she restores order to the home.

Just some thoughts

When I saw your post, the first thing that came to mind was the image of someone revolting in the sense of deeply transforming oneself (49) against a pre-founded order or institution of some sort (37). An inner transormation is happening and a revolution is taking place that could be opposing to one's family values and order. This is indeed a painful process, like a snake changing it's skin. Your inner self is ready for the changes but there still is a part of you that resists and does not want to let go. There's also an element of anticipation in 49.6. You want too much too soon and you want to see other's following you in your revolution. But you need to let things find their own pace by firstly allowing change to take it's place in your life..

Then again, reading what chingching wrote, maybe she's right about 37. Maybe it's about you finding your inner home and and becoming this stable and grounded person. Maybe it's about the need to feel "safe in your own skin". And maybe it's all of the above. Revolting against the order of one's family, so that one can find this inner place of stability and security, the inner "family". You are the only one that can tell which one feels right ;)!

BTW, i have a story to share too, a good friend told me a few days ago:

" When i was a kid and i was changing my teeth, the new ones were growing right next to the old and i was in terrible pain. Do you want to know what happened? I went to the dentist and he pulled the old ones out! No, the old teeth did not live happily together with the new ones, they simply had to go! And then the pain went away aswell..."

I found this to be a beautiful story of how change and transormation can be a painful process until we actually allow it to happen and literally give it the space it needs, by removing what is no longer necessary!

because you change suddenly your feeling about a situation... beginning after a bit to take care to be in right.. and to not trust about.
this bring you to close yourself and to find yourself in a safe place like is it a family.
which one is your safe place? your restoring place? your safe situations.

although your described situation could be that you are suffering under increasing of a bio energy block. this can be restored through traditional chines medicine

Beautiful analogy to Lamethy's Why do I feel so bad? 49.4.6 > 37. The lines are so accurate to your experience, it's humorous. And 37 as the family of teeth, related to the whole body. Really nice.

I've posted this image before. It's a cow elk, in the midst of raw molting. She assisted by rubbing against pine trees. I imagine it was not comfortable for her, but at the same time, a big relief.

I took the shot, and it currently resides on LiSe's server. www.yijing.nl/candid/hexagrams/index.htm Yes, she was a large as she looks in the photo. She stopped to look back at me as I followed behind, as though to say, you sure you want to come one step closer? She was in no mood for photos. (maybe like having two sets of teeth in your mouth, chuckle)

Beautiful picture you got there sooo..What i find amazing is how the animal had the wisdom to assist the whole process, knowing that after pain, relief would follow..Makes me wish we had that kind of unbiased, nature wisdom too. And i believe we do as we're children of nature ourselves..

I will keep your picture in mind along with the "teeth story", whenever i think of painful, necessary, natural changes..BTW, i hadn't thought about the "family of teeth" but now that you put it this way, i guess it does make a nice analogy to the reading, doesn't it? ;)

I think we do, even as we shower or bathe. And anyone whose gotten sunburned and then peeled knows the feeling. I'm a believer in use it or lose it, but without loss and renewal, life stagnates, so loss is essential. This is shown in the exfoliation of our skin, and many people, women in particular, help it along. Guys do it by shaving... er, Bradford notwithstanding. :D

hi lamethy,

I think you've got some great answers here already . .
My own similar experiences had a lot to do with unravelling parts of myself that lay hidden within me and which started to show when I felt I had put my life in some sort of 'order' . . a similar thing often happens with stress that we tend to 'save' in some unseen deposit and which begins to reveal itself only when its sources are removed.

My sense of them is that these feelings play a significant self-healing role, even if they may be upsetting but, just in case, you can also try to notice if they show up during some specific days of your cycle or if they are related in any way to hormonal changes -we often disregard them but these play a huge role in our emotional life . .

I'm very thankful to you all for sharing your stories and your great answers.
I needed some time to process all of your insightful answers

chingching : I didn't know the name of what I'm experiencing now. Putting a name on it is helping me. I don't know whether it is a spiritual growth I'm experiencing,
but there is a change there : I'm seeing things differently and I'm looking at past events with a different understanding. I don't whether it is a growth as I can't say if it is better or not. But there is definitely a change on this level.
Line 6 tells how the noble one changes like a leopard, it sounds like what is happening to you, the changes are coming from deep within you, the advice of this line
and 37 is constancy. This stage of changes (feelings of sadness and aching) will pass so all you need to do is remain constant, keep doing what you are doing.

37 for me has a stability and grounding to it. If I didnt have my home to come home to (;)) I think I'd be in pieces.
I guess you are right and that pains come with this kind of change. I need to hang in there, and be strong enough and wait for the end of this phase.

angeleyes : I'm really not revolting against some values or order.
Your inner self is ready for the changes but there still is a part of you that resists and does not want to let go. There's also an element of anticipation in 49.6.
You want too much too soon and you want to see other's following you in your revolution. But you need to let things find their own pace by firstly allowing change to
take it's place in your life..
Yes maybe my old self is revolting against my new self and that is the cause of my condition.
I will try to let things settle down at their own pace.
37 might be about finding a new stability, a new inner home after things have settle down.

patro :

you are suffering under increasing of a bio energy block

I don't understand there. What is and what might cause a bio energy block?

sooo : thanks for sharing this image. is that hex 58 at the bottom of the image?

rodaki : Thanks for your personal experience on this matter.
you can also try to notice if they show up during some specific days of your cycle or if they are related in any way to hormonal changes

well I'm in my thirties so I guess I'm way passed my period of hormonal changes. And as I'm a male, I guess I don't have cyclical hormonal changes either. But I
might have an underlying illness that can cause hormonal changes. I have an appointment with my physician in the next few days to see whether I'm ill or not.

Again thank you all for your insight.
I will try to surrender to this skinning process and wait it out. I hope that after this phase, I will find my stability, my inner home back

hey lamethy

. . apologies for the gender mixup :duh: - the hormonal part was just in case although it's not rare for emotional responses to be linked to our chemistry . .

wishing you well! :)

Hello,

A little follow up :
I'm still feeling low. I feel like doing nothing but at the same time I DO want to do things. I don't have the energy, or the drive to do it. I don't know how to explain this. It 's like i'm saying to myself "I'll do X or Y but well, what's the point?"

I ask Iching :
What should I do to feel better? 2.1.2.4.5 > 58

Many moving lines, I have difficulties interpreting the answer so I ask

Sorry I don't get the answer, what should I do to feel better? 50

I didn't start a new thread because it is a bit of a follow up to opening question to this thread. And hex 50 follows hex 49.

I think that Iching is telling me to have positive thoughts, that the skinning in me is almost done and that I will soon be ok?

What do you think?
Thanks in advance for your inputs :)

Wow, Yi isn't beating around the bush. Try this on, see how it fits.

Joy is what you want, but you feel stuck in the dark side of a swamp. 2 is your sensational body, includes your emotions, moods, hot buttons, etc.

2.1 is starting to freeze up. It's as close to describing the onset of what is now called depression as anything I've ever heard.

2.2 is a detachment, things get done without trying. Sounds good, and usually is good, but detachment following onset of depression is not good, unless it assists in recovering of your joy.

2.4 is a reclusive state. (this is not looking good)

2.5 the middle and true way is found, and worn. This, I think, is your original face, the one of joy.

Hi sooo

I feel that your interpretation is close to the answer I'm looking for.
I've never considered that I might be in or close to a state of depression.
Lately I often want to be alone (reclusive) but at the the same time I want to go out with my friends. I know that's kind of contradictory. Maybe depression might be the reason
Detachment, yes I feel disconnected from my life.

I will try to think about it more, using the angle you have provided here.

Thanks :)

Hi lamethy -
I had a thought about your readings based on some recent ones of mine -

2 < 58 - find ways to be receptive to joy, to finding what makes you happy? To let what makes you feel joy lead you into being receptive to getting out of this situation.

And with hx 50, when I get it, it means "change." So I do think Yi is wholly encouraging you to change, however you find is best for you. Counseling, friends, going out for some fun, books, church, family, children, vacation, new job, anything that comes to mind for you.

Often for me, the Yi does not point exactly the way toward anything specific, but can comment on your energy to give you an 'aha' about good ways to move ahead in whatever energy/situation you're asking about.

For example, I was worried about a work meeting I had to attend recently. I asked the Yi what should I do about my feeling afraid?- and I got 43 < 40 - which I took as make a decision to release the fear, it's not real nor useful for the meeting.
Hope this helps:)
