"I asked how would it be if I worked part time and went to school? 51.1.3 >62 "

Doable, but it will take a lot of effort/energy/stress.

"... if I worked full time and went to school? 24.6 >27"

Ill-advised. I believe it's because this would push you to/past the breaking point stress-wise, although there could be some other reason for the negative auspice.

"got a second job part-time and did not go back to school? 9.5 >26"

Easily done and effective for you. Maybe there's a social connection here that will enable your progress?

"got a better full time job? 26.2.3.4.5. >25 "

A great move if you can pull it off. It might take some doing (26.3). If you go this route, play it smart by going after jobs that really fit you/your skills (that's a meaning of your 25 relating hexagram).

26 into 25 is a cool reading. I personally believe that 25 and 26 are (or at least can be) a big deal. Maybe you can find a job that is really personally fulfilling if you go this route...

Hope you find this helpful. Best of luck in what must be a very busy time indeed! :)

Jeff,
Could you elaborate on those comments about 25...?I always feel discouraged when I get a 25 reading because I have interpreted it as "blah", a nothing-you-can-do, cast-your-fate-to-the-wind, hope-for-the-best kind of thing. That is interesting to relate it to finding a job that fits..but i can see it, now that I think about it. How exactly do you see 25 as a "big deal"- or do you only mean when it is related to 26?
very curious. (BTW, for the young mom, I thought your interpretations were excellent).

"I asked how would it be if I worked part time and went to school? 51.1.3"

It would be a shock, but fortunate.

"I asked how would it be if I worked full time and went to school? 24.6 >27 "

It would be a big mistake. A disaster.

"got a second job part-time and did not go back to school? 9.5 >26"

This one's interesting - it talks about getting wealth by association with something, but it doesn't mention good fortune (which 51.1 mentions).

"got a better full time job? 26.2.3.4.5. >25"

Forward movement stops, it's difficult to get what you want, a leading idea produces a wonderful result, making it harmless makes it good: in other words, overall positive, but really complicated.

I like simple approaches, so I'd go for the first option if it was me. But you're a woman, so maybe your multi-tasking brain would be happy with 26.2.3.4.5, which is also a pretty good scenario. But I think the reason there's so much going on with the latter is cuz getting a better full-time job is such a big undertaking.

Well, in the case of the question at hand, correctness in terms of being well-matched for the job makes sense as interpretation.

Another way of interpreting that hexagram (in the context of a different question) would be moral correctness/innocence. My personal view is that this is an important aspect of spirituality. The component trigrams are movement and heaven - this could be seen as movement towards/following heaven - ie, becoming a bit more "heavenly," if you will, by being good/morally correct/innocent: having more good and less evil.

This ties in with 26, because 26 shows (or can show, depending on the question/context) an accumulation of "heaven" - essentially, accumulating "goodness" or innocence within yourself as a form of spiritual development.

This, I think, ties in to the passage from the Ta Chuan which you may have read about accumulating virtue: "If good does not accumulate, it is not enough to make a name for a man. If evil does not accumulate, it is not strong enough to destroy a man. Therefore the inferior man thinks "Goodness in small things has no value" and so neglects it. He thinks, "Small sins do no harm" and so does not give them up. Thus his sins accumulate until they can no longer be covered up and his guilt becomes so great that it can no longer be wiped out..."

So, I think that the 25-26 pair are one aspect of this. "Accumulating good/virtue" can be seen in terms of material things, like education, hard work, etc, but they can also be interpreted in terms of this kind of spiritual growth.

Of course, that is just my personal view, I'm sure others see things differently - for example, some people feel that neutrality is more important spiritually than "good", etc... again, it's just my view.

And apologies to anon for taking her thread way off on a tangent (but hey, you asked :) ).
