I'm still getting the hang of this new job, I'm not expected not to grasp everything right away. I asked a ton of questions to a colleague who has been super nice in helping me. But honestly, it's been a bit of a tough month, and I've been missing some stuff I should have known. My boss had a chat with me about it, and I'm kinda feeling guilty about it.

My first question was how this affected my boss's impression of me and I got 40.2.6>35
Yi seems to be saying that things are tough at the moment, but there's some light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to pick up lessons and just keep going on despite all the hiccups.

My second question was will I recover from this and I got 56uc
Here, the Yi seems to be telling me to be steadfast and upright so I take it also as "just keep going on despite all the hiccups."

And my last question was should I stay for another 1-2 years and I got 46.2.3.5>8
In 46, it tells me that moving forward and maintaining effort is the way to go and 8 tells me to examine this question in the future.

I read Alfred Huang's The Complete I Ching but I might be so off on the interpretation so I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Hi Sajei1015,
Perhaps you could first comment on the help and comments several people have given on your earlier posts 😉

40 <> 35
By having the chat with you this has affected your bosses impression of you by allowing him to hold a picture now that depicts you in a new light (35).
He is feeling more relaxed by what was said by you both as it cleared up some matters for him (40).
He sees more clearly the self imposed tensions that you work under and how hard it is for you to be kind to or forgiving of yourself.

My second question was will I recover from this and I got 56uc

56 Sojourning at the Borders / Quest

56 calls on you to gather together what is currently lacking or small and scattered in your world. The ways in which you approach your 'recovery' - the recipe that you concoct from the gathered ingredients - will determine what your recovery ends up looking and tasting like.

And my last question was should I stay for another 1-2 years and I got 46.2.3.5>8

46 <> 8

'Growing Upward' through 'Union'

46 indicates that things will not be simple for you in this matter. The way you choose to climb this mountain - your attitude, your work ethic, your personal characteristics, how you portray yourself etc - will determine how you fulfill the potential of the situation with this employer over the next 1 - 2 years.

54 Marrying Maiden (nuclear of 46) adds a deeper swirling set of circumstances into the mix, where perhaps something that is out of your control arrives on the scene to play a part in whether you can stay there for the 1-2 years you are looking at.

8 creates a background, and perhaps even an outcome, to this time. You are encouraged to change the way you think and who you are grouped with as a result of this erroneous thinking. It encourages you to discover how to view everything in different ways through inner exploration and to discover what is residing there at the root. Perhaps it is your Union with this unseen root that needs to change for you to grow in an upward direction. Yi could well be commenting here not just on this job, but on your life in general.

This will not be an easy task and one assured of a bumpy ride. However, Yi clearly says that the longer you put off starting this quest to gather what is lacking or scattered in your world then the greater will be your likelihood of being trapped or forever banging your head against the proverbial brick wall.

... or there may be other interpretations that speak more clearly to you.

Good Luck

40>35: That's interesting! I usually don't factor in other people's thoughts of me when diving into an I Ching reading.

56 and 46>8: I'm reading this as my fate's in my hands, but the second one's throwing in a bit of a wild card, like an unexpected twist.

On this occasion though your question clearly asks for comments on other people's thoughts. How else did you read your words "how this affected my boss's impression of me". How I read it, the focus of the question is on gaining insight to any movements within the inner world of your boss. The focus of your interpretation summarises the world with you at the centre " I just need to pick up lessons and just keep going on despite all the hiccups."

Such disconnects between question and the focal point of an answer can lead to confusion or missing of important insights. Something perhaps to be aware of for your future divination practice.

56 and 46>8: I'm reading this as my fate's in my hands, but the second one's throwing in a bit of a wild card, like an unexpected twist.
56 and 46 do call for taking responsibility for shaping your world. The former carries within it a sense of exile and a search for lost wisdom; the latter reflects more on the effort that is invested in embracing your next challenge to grow. If the second reading was mine I would be focusing not so much on the unexpected twist, but more on recognising what it is that needs to be re-shaped for me to grow and then setting about remodeling my inner and outer worlds as soon as possible.

Of course, you can only be guided by what you see in the consultations and what they mean to you.

On my first and second questions: Didn't really chat with the boss about it, but it seems like him and a coworker picked up on what's up. They dropped some great advice without me even asking, and it's made a huge difference. Been taking that to heart, and things have been way better since.

On my third question: This was originally meant for the future, but I've been been "gathering what is lacking or scattered in my world" (which I interpreted to mean "reflecting upon my past mistakes"). In these few weeks, it's been paying off well. Planning to check back in a year or two with an update.
