Hi All,

I've just been on a week-long Scout jamboree with 4500 Scouts and leaders. In our group, I was one of 7 leaders, and we had about 20 kids. However, it was a very muddy camp as it rained a lot, and the leaders had to work well together to ensure everything went smoothly and to keep spirits up among the kids to ensure they had a good time. We shared a lot of the duties, including cooking and cleaning. Still, at the end of the week, and this is probably due to tiredness and exhaustion, I've been secretly fearful that I annoyed the other leaders. Maybe because I saw some of them doing such an excellent job that I feared my contribution paled in comparison or was lacking.

So I asked: Did the other leaders find me annoying? I got 38.4 -> 41

And because I almost ended up doing a couple of unintentionally careless things when it came to my turn to cook, I asked: Do the other leaders think I'm a fool? I got 9.5 -> 26

My interpretation of 38.4 -> 41 is that it points to my insecurity of doing a good job as a leader, of feeling out of my debt, but that actually things went OK.

My interpretation of 9.5 -> 26 is that the other leaders and I made for a much more harmonious relationship than I realize.

What do you think?

"Hey Robert, that hippy sure is a bit unusual, but man, have you tried his Pemmican fritatta?!?
It's great!"

(they felt enriched by your contribution)

I think this is Yi reframing what happened. Yi is highlighting your yourself felt orphaned and out of things so this wasn't a case of you annoying them but you just feeling you had because you felt separate. Does that make sense ? I'm trying to say your feeling was the important factor. For example on a day when you feel no one really gets you you are more likely to think others are evaluating you negatively when they're not.

So I think Yi is showing you there in line 4 feeling a bit isolated despite all these people around you, maybe not even being aware of how you feel and so this feeling translates into your mind thinking 'do they find me annoying ?'. I don't think they did. This is Yi putting her arm around you and comforting the feeling that really gave rise to the question.
And because I almost ended up doing a couple of unintentionally careless things when it came to my turn to cook, I asked: Do the other leaders think I'm a fool? I got 9.5 -> 26

Er this is a very firm No they do no think you are a fool they think you enrich the place. This is a lovely generous line, shared generosity. If you did anything wrong it's really not held against you.

Yes that aligns with my view.

I agree. When people gather to help something greater than themselves the fact someone is there and willing to help far outweighs any errors they may make.

You did good ! You must think of all those kids who benefited from you being there.
