I've been using the I Ching for many decades, and always found the readings to be clarifying and accurate, whether or not I understood them at the time. This is my first post here, though I have been reading what others share and enjoying their insights into the hexgrams and lines.

Situation: I need to commit to a writing project. I've spent years being close to becoming a published author, and it's become clear that I need to get serious and do the hard work that is necessary to become published, and I need to do this sooner rather than eventually. This is a core lifelong dream, my questions are about how to best move forward over the next 6-12 months towards that goal. As always, my underlying question is: How can I move to be in harmony with the situation, times, and Tao? There are two choices I need help from the I ching to make:

1. In my faith, we have a tradition of oathing, where someone commits to a worthy action, drawing on their spirit and intention. If it succeeds, this leads to great things. If it fails, it can backfire. My birthday is in exactly 180 days, a good time frame to commit to finishing the novel I am starting within. Whether or not I oath, I intend to finish my novel by then. The core question is, Is oathing to accomplish this in harmony with my current situation?

Question 1: "Should I oath to complete my rough draft of the new dragons bryneth novel by my birthday? What does Odin advise?"

Reading 1: 47 unchanging. I take this to be a strong No, that I should do the deed but not announce anything about it. Is that accurate?

2. I have been approached by a writing coach whose track record, skills, and recommendations make them seem ideal for learning what I need to learn to get published, and getting my novel into publishable form. The catch is, their price is the maximum I would be willing/able pay for the total services over a year, payable up front at the start. I can afford it, but it is a major purchase to make on faith.

Question 2: "Should I purchase the writing coaching from ***? Is this a good investment to make right now?"

(name removed because I don't want this to be about them)

Reading 2: 61.2.3->37, which I take to be a maybe, with a lot of caveats.

In the past, the I Ching has never failed to give a firm Yes when the answer is yes, and even when I didn't know how a Yes could be possible, it still proved to be true. For it to be less clear makes me lean towards "this might not be the right timing or person for this". Given the very high cost, the absence of a firm Yes makes me lean No.

What are your thoughts? Is the first reading a clear "do it, don't say you will do it"? Is the second more no or yes?

I welcome your insights, as I have learned much from what the community has graciously shared here.
