All that discussion about collapsing waves and what meng said
But of course it isn't Yi, per se, but the whateveritis which operates through Yi.

Remindied me of the question I always wanted to ask Yi. And I asked

Me :Yi, How you do that ?
Yi : 20.4 >12

Curious what you read in that answer

20.4 > 'understands the secrets by which the kingdom can be made to flourish... he should be honored independently and should not be used as a tool'

When I first saw your answer I thought it was saying we can only ever know a limited amount of how it works (contemplation) and perhaps the way towards a deeper understnding is by coming to a standstill (meditation etc)

Perhaps it's also saying that it shouldn't be taken for granted and used as a tool (which I could be guilty of sometimes, asking too many questions, but it works so well!) So maybe saying it is trying to teach strength and goodness, which eventually will be absorbed and the Yi and not needed so much... but then what can we do as mere mortals  or that we sork with the Yi rather than have it work for us.

12.4 > 'Those of like mind partake in the blessing'

Saying that only certain people have an affinity with the Yi and can use it for a higher purpose? Or that we are blessed to have found it?

Nice. :bows:
But, oh how does it work?? lol.
I read a book recently which featured the I ching in relation to ideas in physics of Quantum Entanglement (as an explanation of synchronicity) and Dark Matter (unseen, alien material that makes up most of our universe). Interesting..

I think Yi's response says the question can't be directly answered in the manner we may like, and that you must allow it to work and move freely in its own (unnamed) way - "The way that can be named isn't the Way."

We may theorize and speculate, but any time we try to nail down a singular answer, the wave of potentials collapses - it stops being everything and becomes only the one thing. And that applies not only to the Yi, but to everything we see, experience and contemplate. That's how this world of Maya works.

Very interesting! :)

Hexagram 20 according to Richmond:

The wide view
from a height
comtemplates activity
on and in the earth

The mountain peak
stands serene
sloping down valleys
where life is teeming

Time of seeing the whole
of relating inner and outer life
quiet amongst activity
but beyond it

See what is there
Take stock of it
as a whole

Perhaps hexagram 12 indicates that the Yi (or whateveritis that operates through it) is not part of the flow of time. It contemplates activity on and in the earth from a place outside time.

Yes. Perhaps that is also what the Yi is saying with this answer.
The Yi (or whateveritis that ..) is aware of the whole while our minds tend to zoom in on parts, like in 20.2.

"So when you are listening to somebody, completely, attentively, then you are listening not only to the words, but also to the feeling of what is being conveyed, to the whole of it, not part of it."

"You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing and dance, and write poems and suffer and understand, for all that is life."

i see it as saying as a 'guest' ie not one of us enacting the human drama, it, the Yi, can give us the benefit of its vision and view. Very modest answer IMO....then again we may be the guests in the Yis kingdom, getting a different view for a while...then again...

Another cool thing in Maria's Q&A is that it not only answers that it can't be answered in the specific way she'd like, but it does explain how Yi works. :D

Hey Martin, thanks for reminding me of J. Krishnamurti! Thinking I need to get some of his work out and read it through again! Wonderful stuff:)

Last week, I was talking to a friend about the lack of time I have and my difficulties to put in a 24hours-day, the things I love to do, I have to do, and I should do. I told him “ I have to take a week calendar and organize my week but It looks like I have not self discipline” After that conversation I toss the coins and the Yi’s answer was 60>7. I was amazed from that answer , once again.

All this incidents, makes me want to ask the question “how do you do it?”. Actually is not the answer I expect, I don’t think I can ever fully understand how Yi works.( but it would be nice t know the answer,) . Mostly is the need just to make that question.

Like others said here, Yes, I agree too that Yi doesn’t give an answer but at the same time it does.

Still not sure what stands for the “kingdom”, “king” or “guest” here but hex 20 and 12 makes sense as a response.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts

Maria
