Wilhelm on 25:

In this hexagram the six lines are all innocent, that is, naive, without ulterior motives.

The nine [solid line] at the beginning is in its appropriate place and is the ruler of the trigrams of movement; this indicates that the time has come to act. Hence action brings good fortune.

The nine [solid line] at the top is not in the right place and stands outermost in the trigram Ch'ien. THE TIME TO ACT HAS ALREADY PASSED. Hence action, even though innocent, brings misfortune.

Everything depends on the time.

The line at the beginning has good fortune, the second is favorable; this is due to the time. The third line bears an augury of misfortune, the fifth of illness, the top line of misfortune. All this does not happen by plan, but is likewise the result of the time conditions. It is possible for the first and second to advance. The time has come for them to move. The fourth should remain steadfast, the fifth should use no medicine, the top line has misfortune if it acts: all this indicates that for these lines the time has come to remain quiet.
-Wilhelm

To see this another way:

1) Possible to advance. (Ruler of the trigram CHEN, the trigram of movement. The time has come to act.)
2) Possible to advance.
3) Misfortune.
4) Remain steadfast.
5) Use no medicine.
6) Misfortune. ( Stands outermost in the trigram CH'IEN, the trigram of creativity. The time to act has already passed.)
-----

Perhaps in regard to the heart condition 25.1/ 25.6 would indicate that it was time for you to act - get the operation - because you had already gone as far as you could on your own and it was time to get knowledgable help.

Thank you, Rosada! Unless you found that online you must have typed it out. In which case, double thank you.

Wilhelm's line 6 assessment could make a lot of sense pertaining to this situation. All of my heart problems (including chf) could have been infinitely more treatable before the consequences began appearing a few years ago. In fact they should have been prevented before becoming a problem. I shouldn't have smoked for over 30 years before quitting, shouldn't have had all those Wendy's burgers, fries and Diet Cokes while on the run at work, should have just taken better care of myself. My disabled wife received most of my attention, while I thought I was invincible and didn't need medical attention. Too late, makes lots of sense here. I'm not being fatalistic or feeling sorry for myself, but being realistic. So many things I could have done better, earlier, but I was naive, and dumb.

People, take care of your bodies, your diet and exercise. If you still smoke cigs, for heaven's sake, please stop, before it's too late.

Thanks again, Rosada. Bless you.

'Innocent' or 'Innocence' is never a word I use for 25 as it has too many connotations of childlike purity for me. I see 25 as simply 'disentangled'...sometimes unfortunate things just happen, it's a mistake to think they are all caught up with what we did or didn't do. 25.6 can go from 'disentangled' to 'disengaged' hence burn the pots.

I'm now also seeing the 25.6 as maybe having to keep an eye on what is usual in this situation and what isn't, which must actually be quite difficult. I mean say your bp suddenly goes up and your heart goes fast how is one to know what is okay ? For this I think medical reassurance must be necessary, which you are having.. But of course the reading after the operation was 45.1.6>25. I did like how we got a 'before and after' reading with them neatly inside out, very tidy....sort of complete , like a job well done. Like a sock turned inside out to be darned and then turned the right way out again lol

I wonder if the meaning of 25.6 is something along the lines of "That which cannot be understood by the mind?" Like things have evolved beyond where just ignoring a problem and Taking No Medicine and letting time do it's thing can be helpful. Time has run out. But what to do? You're still in the Innocence hexagram so you don't know. The image of the next hexagram, 26. The Taming Power of The Great, talks about studying so perhaps the next step when you don't know what to do is to get some knowledge from those who have more experience.

Anyway, I just thought it was interesting that we all have been puzzling over 25.6 and maybe Puzzlement is the line's true meaning.

25.6 feels like the blackboard at the end of the class in school- full of notes. 25.1 brings in mind the "tabula rasa"

The most difficult part is the "don't act" part of 25.6 and maybe it doesn't say don't act at all but don't act from this mind-frame were you think your mind is "clean" . in my experience its a hint to pause and think about what you "know". the thunder in 17 is idle - his time to act is not yet... it feels like you need to return to the root of the impulses and see where they are coming from. practically , we can never return to the 25.1 state - maybe that state does not exist at all and works only as a point of reference, but figuratively, somehow you "clean" that blackboard , in some ways.
