First Day of School? Hex 34 uc

Will the saga continue ad nauseam or have I finally reached the day, the point of no return? I've been struggling with the idea of returning to school for a very long time. I recently posted about an upcoming nursing program...

Last week already I had come to the conclusion that in fact at my age of 60 and the current financial situation here in the US as well as a number of other factors that I would NOT go to nursing school and/or take the first class this Fall semester.

Then I woke up today, 8/15, and saw emails from the college and the professor because today is the first day of class and my mind went in all sorts of directions - thinking at warp speed - and even considering changing my mind and taking the class.

I asked Yi - what about me going ahead with anatomy class this fall at pct? I received hex 34 uc.

I have read a considerable amount of posts regarding 34 uc...particularly liking the visual of a race car at the starting line - all revved up, having the power, but it not being time yet to start. I also read the "awesome power" can refer to my own unique "Te" but not really sure how to go forward with that thought. Maybe something on the order of knowing my true self despite what others think and/or feel? Do I stay put then? Stay put in my decision NOT to go or Stay Put with this inner awesome power to start school?

Again, school starts today with the first class tomorrow night.

And I am lost for an answer.

Readings aside what do you want to do? I mean what you want does count for rather a lot here doesn't it and sometimes it's all that matters. You don't need permission to go for what you want.

And I could see that in 34. Where 33 withdraws 34 is fully present, presenting the self, standing.

The Image often helps with uc hexagrams I find

'Thunder dwells above heaven. Great vigour.
Noble one treads no path that is without ritual.'

Basically that's to do with using strength in accordance with what is correct, what is held to be the correct way of doing things.

With 34uc I wouldn't say you were lost for an answer, you probably know what you want. Expressing/doing what one wants is very much to stand firm in one's own identity and that's all good says Yi if it aligns with the law/morality/what is correct - which is what I take to be ritual. For example if I very much want to go swimming because it's hot and got 34uc then I wouldn't see anything wrong with embodying that desire, me being me doing what I want with vigour, but Yi says here only swim where it is permissible/custom/the usual place to swim/where it is allowed. How that ties in for you here I don't know as you can't actually be in danger of going against 'ritual' - in any case it's just a warning here. 34uc is often a very good omen for health as well.

In the past I have asked you, given your age and your chronic health issues that cause you pain, why you would go into nurse training at this point when it won't finish till you are 63 and it is a physically demanding job. I've not said this in connection to readings specifically I don't think I've just been puzzled by the proposed trajectory...especially as a 62 year old myself. However if it's something you want to do well why not? I don't know if it costs a lot of money where you are, I don't know what it involves you in? Presumably if you changed your mind you could withdraw? If you can easily withdraw what's to lose?

What I'm trying to say is what you want decides this doesn't it and I think that kind of fits the answer - unless you feel to go ahead would be to take a path not in accordance with established pathways? But presumably they don't think there is a problem or they wouldn't have accepted you on the program? Clearly you have a strong desire to do this and that is an important factor.

Take the class. Drop out later if you don't like it. Age and the state of the economy are not good reasons to not do something if you really want to do it. What better hedge is there against a bad economy than healthcare? My grandmother was 68 when she started her writing career and became very successful.
